What are those noises coming out of their mouth holes??

Sure I'm no genius, but I'm not used to feeling this stupid either. Ten minutes in to this movie here and I'm not sure I've understood even half the exchanges so far...in fact, I think I need to back up to the beginning again.
I don't remember it being this difficult to follow. Maybe it takes getting into the swing some?

I don't imagine many people would be quick to raise their hand and join the dumbass brigade here, but...come on, its not just me, right?

"I reckon the good Lord done right by blessing my nethers with purposeful distraction" kind of stuff. Wtf...

which word did you not understand?

I know exactly what ya mean. I had to put on CC and then still there were words that I didn't know their meaning. Everyone was talking like Shakespeare, lol. I enjoyed the movie though. I love Westerns and Deadwood was a great one. Can't believe the show only got 3 seasons.

reply

Hah thank you!
Yeah it seemed to let up some, but the first 15 minutes or so...maybe all the formalities of the characters re-introducing themselves? It was pretty thick and even if I didn't understand it, it sounded pretty nice, you know? That poetic way of speaking.

Anyway, JUST finished it a few minutes ago here and not a bad little movie. Definitely not your typical epic western, but it was nice seeing the characters again. And the attention to detail...it was nice being in that authentic of a period piece again.

I don't know if it was an audio issue or maybe they were mumbling some lines, but it was hard to hear what was being said in the beginning of the movie. I just rewatched all of Deadwood last month so it wasn't like I was out of practice. But it definitely cleared up after 15 or 20 minutes. Maybe less.

I had the same experience. It's been a good long while since I saw my last episode of Deadwood, but I can't remember that they spoke this difficult back then?

It did "clear up" a bit after a while, but there were times later on in the movie where I struggled to understand as well.

I watched about ten minutes and it really sucked.

reply

The way they speak on Deadwood is part of the reason I love it. The show was the same way.

reply

Agreed

reply

Exactly! I was wondering the same thing. All that language that might have been fashionable eons ago but leaves us wondering what the fuck they're on about. It made the movie a real pain to watch.
