Is Beth the worst character ever?

And why the answer is yes? She is too cruel and immature for my tastes. And i wouldnt sleep with her even with another man's dick

reply

She is the worst

reply

Yes she is. It's good writing and acting.

reply

She is terrible agreed....anxiously awaiting her death on the show...but yes good writing cause I hate her so much and it’s just a show

They won't kill her until the last episode at least, and maybe even not then. As bitter and vile as she is, they've shown cracks in her facade that might allow them to "reclaim" her character at the end.

Right now, she's mesmerizing to watch.

reply

She's too old to be behaving the way she does. I also don't get into the tough bitch one second vulnerable princess the next routine she likes to play.

reply

I know a real-life woman who likes to play that game. Everyone loves her and think she's an aggrieved victim, but she's tough as nails and manipulates things to get them to sympathize with her.
She will literally Bat Her Eyes to get people to accept she's wonderful and anyone who thinks otherwise is awful. smh

reply

I've known women like her too, worked with them even. It is tiring and they have zero credibility.

reply

The chick I'm thinking of is Everyone's Darling.
Hey, she can be a very good person when she chooses to be, just that she can turn it on-and-off like a spigot.
When she's in a foul mood, forget it. And her happy side seems like an act to me. She wants people to think of her that way, but they aren't around her all the time.

But back to Beth. She has had some weird scenes like when she seduces that guy just so she can use it against him.
Really hard to like someone after that, even with all the trauma that followed. And she treats Jaime like he's the biggest tool god ever created. I never got to the abortion part so maybe I could change my mind but by then I imagine I'd be tired of it all.

reply

Her anger is out of control and makes her seem more immature than a calculated Joker type. I won't ruin the abortion story line for you, it will explain a lot though. Whether it makes you see her differently or not is another thing. It didn't make a huge impact on how I see Beth.

reply

Thanks for the reply.
I liked the show because I loved the back drop of Wyoming or Montana or wherever it was set.
But it's a major drama headache, a Soap w/o a real story. Just keeps meandering along with whatever drama it can create along the way.

reply

You're welcome.

I love the modern Western setting and scenery as well. It does lack direction and at this point it seems like they are just going to keep upping the ante in terms of violence and craziness. Wait till you see the season finale!!

I can't help but think they didn't count on more than 1 or 2 seasons so didn't put a lot of thought into it and now they are kind of lost.

reply

I've seen several episodes of this show. I keep meaning to get into it. It seems really well-done. I'm not sure I like ANY of these people, but man-oh-man, she is downright hateable. What an arrogant, mean, off-putting person.

reply

Yep and I could deal with the nasty streak. It's the sulking bratty behavior from a woman who looks like she is well into her 40's that is what gets me. I don't know if the character is meant to be younger if so they chose the wrong actress.

reply

One of the reasons I haven't taken the plunge with this show is, from what I have seen, I don't like any of these people. It's very well-made, but I hate these people.

I think Beth is meant to be that way. I don't fault the actress, she makes me hate the character, which you sre supposed to.

reply

Spoiler alert Spoiler alert

Dutton is a lousy father ..he never bothered all those years to question why Beth treated Jamie so badly ..

Did he just close an eye because Jamie was adopted ?

reply

A decent actor certainly couldn't do anything but be an improvement for the role of Beth.

reply

She is definitely on the list.

I watch this show with my wife and I often use the Game of Thrones Cersei comparison to Beth.

The difference is that Cersei is a character I "love to hate" whereas Beth is a character I just flat out HATE.

There is nothing good about this character at all, and the Beth and Jamie scenes are really, really old and played out. She should have died in the bombing

Professionally ---- I wouldn't cross her--- She had a boss who did and she got the better of him and fired him

The British broad better go back to NYC

At a personal level --- She has the ability to be a real bitch, There's another side not everyone sees,

She uses all her assets as needed
