We need to talk about Black Widow ...

Spoilers

Not much talk about her ... Surely they will find a way to bring her back?

reply

Why? The original 6 Avengers finished their arcs.

reply

Why not? She is a good character.

Apparently there is a standalone film for the character in the works anyway. Probably based in the past but still would be interesting.

reply

It's sad to lose Natasha, but I don't like bringing characters back from the dead. It cheapens death.

I'm impressed they had the nerve to keep Vision dead, and not bring back Gamora from the central timeline.

reply

i agree, both characters should stay dead.

reply

I wasn't clear to me if there was a Gamora still around by the end of the film. I don't remember seeing her after Ironman used the stones and it would have to be a pretty subtle command - Kill Thanos and all his fighters - except the pretty green one.

reply

Alt-timeline Gamora had already been turned good by Original-timeline Nebula, who told her that in the future they would be close friends. So the stones may have known that she was not with Thanos's forces

It will be a funny subplot in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 if Quill has to win back the love of this alt-timeline Gamora who barely met him

reply

I don't know. She is in the Soul Stone. Hulk said he tried to bring her back in the snap. We do not know if something happened...

reply

I thought only the decimated (result of snap) ended up in the soul stone? Natasha's laying at the bottom of that cliff.

reply

What about Gamora in IW?

But in any case, that means Thanos is in the stone?

reply

I suspect 2018 Gamora, is still laying at the bottom of that cliff!

The 2014 version of Thanos, yes. Thanos prime was decapitated.

reply

Her death was beautiful and very heartbreaking. Undoing her death would be cheap.

We have her solo film to look forward to (likely to be set in the past) and I am hoping that will lead to a trilogy. She deserves one.

reply

I look forward to it too.

But will people be interested in a prequel knowing what happens to Natasha?

Or will the films be set in a different timeline? Maybe the one where Steve visited Peggy and grew old with her.

reply

People were okay watching prequels involving a living Obi-Wan Kenobi so a Black Widow prequel should work.

reply

But bear in mind that Obi-Wan wasn't the only protagonist of that story, and the backstories of those characters arguably had a larger impact on the Star Wars Universe than Natasha's, admittedly fascinating, history as a spy did look our own.

After The Snap, will anyone still be interested in The Cold War? It's an honest, rather than rhetorical, question. I don't know the answer.

reply

People have been calling for a Black Widow movie for years and have wanted to see her origins and going by initial reactions, they want it now more than ever. Her death changes nothing.

reply

Hey, I still want to see the solo Black Widow films. I just wish we'd gotten them before she was killed off.

Now we know how her story ends, I feel a little less invested in her past.

reply

I hope she stays dead, I hate the character and I hate Johannsen's monotone voice

People like to make fun of Hawkeye, but at least he has a weapon with a variety of arrow-types

It's totally unrealistic that Black Widow could fight aliens and superhumans just using karate. Every time she was in a fight scene it makes me feel like the franchise's powerscaling is all out of whack

reply

Lol yeah I agree about the powers stuff. I did like it better when she just used her skills to beat up non supers or escape quickly etc.

reply

Glad I'm not the only one who feels this way

I get it, for a while she was the only female Avenger, so they couldn't make her super weak without offending people

But after Age of Ultron she still took up way more screentime than Scarlet Witch, who should rightfully be among the strongest Avengers

Why? Because Johannsen is a bigger star than Elizabeth Olsen. Don't know why. Olsen is just as beautiful and talented, and younger, than Johannsen. But Hollywood works in a fucked up way. Nothing is ever fair. So you have a ridiculously overpowered shit character taking up more than their share of the limelight

reply

I like her but realistically, she has no powers so she and Hawkeye going toe to toe against powered villains has been ridiculous for a long time now.

reply

I'll be Honest....

I found her death completely unnecessary and Never actually thought she was gonna die....

When The scene was unfolding, and they were explaining again "You have to sacrifice what you love most"

I was instantly thinking, They are going to make you think one of them are going to be sacrificed but then at the last second it was going to be revealed, NO Sacrifice was necessary because Clint had already Sacrificed and lost what he loved most in his family....

I just felt Widows death and sacrifice wasnt needed, I thought Clint was worthy of The Soul stone already because He already lost what he loved most!

reply

I thought maybe Clint say he’ll give up porn and poof comez soul stone
