reply

Perhaps, but who would've expect CM will earn this much opening day in China?

reply

Me , I have been following presales from China. But would not know a month ago, it is a new character.

reply

Impressive , most impressive

reply

That fact that you guys are so worried about it making money, and not actually being good says a lot.

reply

Well it's not like CM has been out for weeks, seriously dude. And since I haven't seen it yet it's perfectly okay to comment its earnings in second biggest market.

reply

I havent seen it yet and im only concerned with it making money so i can burn queensfan

From Forbes and from the SAME JOURNALIST, Scott Mendelson:

Box Office: 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Nabs Second-Best $45M Thursday
https://www.forbes.com/sites/scottmendelson/2017/12/15/star-wars-box-office-the-last-jedi-earns-near-record-45m-thursday/#51dad07b6fd5

We all know how it ended...

reply

That's some logic you've got there :/

reply

That's some strange concept of logic you've got there :/

I didn't post any logic but raw data: the same journalist, the same media, posted a very similar article the day The Last Jedi was released.

reply

You can always twist facts to fit your agenda. Don't be lazy, the same journalist didn't write ONLY two articles.

reply

So stating that the same journalist, in the same media, he wrote year and half ago a very similar article saying almost the same about The Last Jedi, and providing a link to prove it, that's "twisting facts".

Whatever.

reply

Wrong. I'm sure The Last Jedi and Captain Marvel aren't the ONLY two movies he wrote articles about. You're twisting facts by picking out that one article that fits your agenda, let's look at his other articles shall we?

reply

So stating that he wrote very much the same article (and providing a link that proves it) is, according to you, not true, because he wrote more articles besides those two ones. So no matter he wrote that article I was talking about, according to you it's not true that he wrote that article because he wrote more articles, including this one that he didn't wrote because he wrote it and then some.

That's some logic you've got there :/

reply

First of all it's not very much the same article, my link is for China and yours is for States, two very different markets because domestically movies have much more legs than in China when after a week they start loosing screens drastically.

Second, and most important, the way you make it sound the author of the article is constantly wrong and because he wrote another article over a year ago about another movie and that one didn't perform all that well, that means he's wrong again. That's some logic. It's difficult to predict how a movie will perform, especially with the blockbusters.

What's the point of your reply anyway? The success of Captain Marvel in its opening day in China remains the same, no matter what some random guy has written before. Facts are facts https://mobile.twitter.com/gavinfeng97/status/1103677666928910336

reply

I haven't said that he's constantly wrong. Actually, I don't think he's constantly wrong. You need to be quite a good seer for that, as for guess whether a coin will be heads or tail and give consistently the wrong answer every time. That's not easy.

More likely, he's wrong sometimes, he's right sometimes. Nothing special. I said that he's not very good at making predictions.

As for the success of Captain Marvel in China in its opening day, it's not that impressive. That opening day (today) happens to be a holiday day in China.

reply

Wrong. Holiday day is Friday and we're discussing Captain Marvel's Thursday numbers.

reply

Aha. And don't you think that Friday being holiday (so you don't need to wake up early for work) have some influence in people going to movie theater Thursday?

reply

Perhaps but Thursday is still work day and you don't think people will rather rest after a busy day? Movie studios schedule their releases to fit spring/summer breaks and holidays, but if the movie isn't that good to make that much of an interest for opening day this big then there isn't a force in universe that will make people go watch it. Give Captain Marvel credit where credit is due, not all movies open big even if there's a holiday around the corner.

reply

Scott Mendelson is the guy who continually predicts the next Marvel movie failing isn't he?

reply

Scott Mendelson the gift that keeps on giving. The ultimate shill of shills. Why anyone reads his work is beyond me.

reply

chinaman eat this super hero trash up all the time no big deal
