I think The Star Wars films are going to start performing Nearly identical to the MCU films/franchise
With The MCU films....Avengers movie or cross over Team Up films like Civil War have Expectations of at least 1 Billion dollars + and They always meet and exceed those expectations.....Solo MCU films expectation are not 1 Billion, right now Expectations are between 700 to 850 Million....Any Solo MCU films coming out soon will have expectations in that range, It is worth noting though Expectations are going up....
Pre Avengers 1, Expectations were 350 to 550 Million for Solo films...
After Avengers 1, Phase 2 began and Expectations were 600 to 750 M....
Phase 3, has been maybe the most successful 7 film stretches in Hollywood History....The box office stats are unprecedented...
there have been 7 Phase 3 MCU films....Civil War, Doctor Strange, GOTG2, Spider-Man HC, Thor Ragnarok, Black Panther, and Avengers IW....
6 out of the 7 MCU films have Opened Over 115 Million...
6 out of the 7 MCU films have OVER 300 Million Domestically ....
6 out of the 7 MCU films have made a Total World Wide Gross Over 850 Million...

Expectations for "Episode" SW films are absolutely going to be 1 biillion +.....Fans and Audiences see "Episodes" as True SW movies, Event Movies....
But Solo SW films, Spinoff or prequels.....Expectations will be around 650 to 750 Million ....
and the reason why expectation Will be 650 to 750 M Is Disney Will keep budgets for these Movies around 170 to 200 Million.....when you have a budget in that range....anything from 650 M + and up is a HUGE profit...
NOw There is a case to be made Solo has different expectations, and may need to make more.....and the reason why is it had massive post production problems that caused the budget to nearly double to 300 Million....
to know exactly how much it needs to make, we need to look at an identical situation....
Just last November WB released Justice League....and It quite simply is a mirror image of SOLO....Both films had to bring of new directors to do massive reshoots and fix/finish the films, BOTH films ended up with Nearly identical 300 Million + budgets and exactly the 100 Million + in Marketing....
WE know Justice League made a total gross of 658 Million dollars.....and as of last month we 100% know WB LOST 60 Million dollars on Justice League(Deadline Reported it), Just was a flop that Lost WB money....
So We know know for sure SOLO needs to make more 658 M.....and since Theaters get HALF of all box office, that means SOLO needs to make about 100 Million more than Justice League to make sure SOLO Break even....
So......the Key Number for SOLO is 750 Million + World Wide.....If SOLO make 750 M+ world Wide Its a Hit and Disney is going to make a decent profit....
anything below 750 M, Disney Will lose money....
but again SOLO is an outlier here, because of the post production problems, theres no way Disney Will let any other Spinoffs or Prequels Budget get to 300 Million, Disney Will set budgets between 170 to 200 Million which means they only need to make 650 M to be Hits...
In conclusion....SW films and MCU films will have the same expectations going forward...
Event films...."Episodes" or "Avengers" Will be expected to make over 1 Billion +
but SOLO MCU Films or SW spinoff or prequels Will be expected to make 650 Million+(A Litter More for MCU films)
so with all that being said.....its going to be almost impossible for SOLO to flop....Its tracking for a 120 to 160 Million opening weekend, which will result in a 300 to 350 Million domestic gross...
Its tracking to open between 150 and 175 Million Overseas, which Will result in a 400 Million + overseas gross....
for SOLO to flop....It needed to be A TrainWreck, A Terrible movie that Audiences Hated....It Need to have BvS, Suicide Squad and Justice League type reviews and AWFUL Word of Moth...
Instead it seems to be a considered above average to good by The Majority....

115 to 130 Million On Opening Weekend(140 Million + for the 4 day weekend)

Normally a SW premier would be packed out at my local cinema, with multiple midnight showings.
There was only 1 cinema showing it (albeit the largest one) and it was far from full.
Was kind of strange.
The film is not really that entertaining, it isn't terrible either. Barley resembles a SW film however.
So, honestly, the other three neo-"Star Wars" movies didn't already do that? ;-)
