Nacho

Kim's the big wild card, but I also wonder about Nacho. There's the line in Breaking Bad that hints he's still alive. But doesn't confirm. He could die in a way that's unknown to Saul. And I feel like that makes the most sense, that or he goes across the border for good

reply

Did you mean to say Lalo? The line Saul says in Breaking Bad hints at Lalo still being alive, not Nacho.

"Lalo didn't send you?"

The line regarding Nacho was "it wasn't me, it was Ignacio", which works regardless of Nacho being alive or dead.

reply

I was talking about Nacho but misremembered the exact dialogue, thanks

Then he would have to die at some point during Breaking Bad. Gus makes it clear that Hector was the last of the Salamanca’s before he blew them both up.

But that would be too far fetched.

Either Saul doesn’t know Lalo is dead, or he is talking about another Lalo.

reply

Lalo is a nicname. So its not common. There being two “Lalos” in Sauls like is kind of far fetched.

reply

Lalo is a common nickname for people named Eduardo and others. It is very common.

reply

I don't think they would kill Kim. I bet she goes into witness protection alone.

reply

I think she is in prison during the events of Breaking Bad. BCS will conclude with them being reunited.

reply

That’ll be a nice ending.

reply

I feel they owe us a happy ending… After we have stayed with them for 12 years…

reply

Kim is getting smoked. There is a reason Saul never mentions her during Breaking Bad.

reply

I don’t know. I don’t think she’s dead. His character seemed too upbeat and flamboyant in Breaking Bad. I feel if he was a man who recently lost the love of his life he’d be a little more solemn.

reply

The thing is, what alternative fate for Kim could you imagine that would leave Saul as (relatively) upbeat and flamboyant as he was in Breaking Bad? I can't think of any. Like, if she's alone in a witness protection program, he'd still be thinking of her constantly, and of the fact that he'll probably never see her again.

reply

I’ve watched the show multiple times but can’t recall at the moment. Did they ever show his home life in Breaking Bad? Is it possible that he’s still with her, and goes home to her at night, in that timeline?

reply

Did they ever show his home life in Breaking Bad?

Never. Not even once. Peter Gould has been quoted as saying this final season of BCS will change your perspective on the events of BB, so I take that to mean they're going to reverse engineer Kim into the background of BB somehow.

reply

That’s what I’m thinking will be the case. She may be the mastermind behind Saul in Breaking Bad.
As i said, he’s too flamboyant to be someone who lost someone, apparently, so dear to him. Think about it. She’s all he really has. He has no family to speak of. Pretty much zero friends. She’s his world. If he lost her i don't see him acting the way he does in Breaking Bad.

reply

Or it could push him over the edge, and lead to him fully embracing the Saul persona. He made the spontaneous decision to transform in to Saul Goodman, lawyer after Chuck died. Kim's death could be a similar breaking point for him.

reply

That’s also a possibility. He just completely lost himself. Had nervous breakdown or so, and wrapped himself up in work and a fake persona 24/7 to help cope.
