Acoustic music didn't suit the movie.

The problem I had with Arrivals sound track was that they used music that was in other movies... I kept thinking of Shutter Island, an intense DiCaprio and a etherial Michelle Williams whenever I heard that music...

I liked the sound in Annihilation... But yes, the music towards the end was better suited... I thought they were going to use the acoustic music just tp tie the Lena & Kane characters to one another, but they didn't...

The acoustic was a great contrast to the end music, and made it more impactful imo.

Not to nitpick... but there's no such thing as sci-fi music. Well I guess there could be songs with lyrics that are telling a sci-fi story, but that would be the only possibility.

Exactly. This music had no place after the initial bear attack scene. It makes the scenes following it feel like picnic rather then a struggle to survive.

It was pretty out of step with the movie. But, interestingly, the film score seems to suddenly change direction about 2/3 of the way into the movie to the ethereal score that I think worked.

It felt like out takes from Fahrenheit 9/11.

I agree, I thought the soundtrack was kind of choppy. Not all of it seemed to fit the mood of the scene.

The one really jarring piece for me was the Crosby, Stills, and Nash song. My friend and I looked at each other and mouthed, "WHAT???"

I respectfully disagree. I loved it, and listen to it often.
