They fly now

omg...

reply

Great, isn't it? This drop was like Christmas Day to YouTubers across the world.

reply

Haven't the Clone Troopers been flying from the start? Even if it is in troop transports?

reply

These arent clone troopers , neither are stormtroopers, clonetroopers all but died out before ANH

reply

Yes, I know, current Stormtroopers are conscripts (I fail to see why anyone would want to be one voluntarily), but even they had speeder bikes that are technically flying machines.

reply

Stormtroopers are clones

reply

Never had a problem with Boba Fett flying. The landscape makes me wonder if they're taking part in a pod race.

Huge backlash from this stupid scene. Are they going to cut it from the film?

Amusing, yet true. Looking back, it's all JJ's fault. He demanded a writing credit if he was going to be part of this. He never should've gotten it. Because of that, Disney Star Wars was doomed from the very start. And he's a craptastic director at best too.

reply

Ha! Thanks for the mental image.

reply

Huge backlash? Hmm ... interesting. Not sure who you're referring to. Most people love it!

Look at the thumbs up vs. the thumbs down. I don't know who the "most people" you're talking about are.

reply

Thumbs up vs. thumbs down where. Also, most people who love it, just love it. They don't necessarily come here to tell you. Not really sure why I did, but I'm in the process of grading exams and decided to take a break :-)

reply

Look on the link! YT videos don't normally get net negative thumbs down. Because it does it's very telling.

reply

Oh, on youtube! Right. I've never reacted to anything on youtube. I watch it, but I never react. That's also quite common. Just saying, ratings and reactions only tell PART of the story.

Really? You didn't like it? It reminded me a lot of Han and Chewie bantering, so I thought it was classic.

reply

Lots of people don't react, but that's irrelevant. The point is, the negative outweighs the positive. That's uncommon on youtube. No. It's pure cringe.

reply

To each it's own.

reply

When you imagine the dialogue on a script, it's even worse. How these atrocious scripts get greenlit is truly beyond me.

reply

Again, to each it's own. That scene made me excited about the script. Sounds a lot like you are bound and determined to hate a movie you've never seen.

reply

JJ Abrams directed and written. It's a given it's bad.

reply

You really just can't allow for the possibility of someone disagreeing with you! I loved the Force Awakens and I enjoyed the new Star Trek movies. I also loved the first 3 seasons of Alias (not so much seasons 4 & 5). I liked Lost at first, but I can't believed I wasted my time after the first couple of seasons.

If you've already decided you hate this movie, I guess that's just the way it goes.

reply

You can disagree with me. I'm not trying to change your mind. JJ's track record is horrible. All the movie's he's directed have been bad. JJ Trek is atrocious. It should be wiped from canon. Alias is a joke! I tried to watch one episode. Couldn't make it through to the end it was so ridiculous. Lost? Puh-leeze! Once they had to explain things it fell apart like a milk soaked cookie.

You need to understand something. Rian Johnson went rogue Disney Ep.8. Now JJ has to continue off of that train wreck. The only way of doing so is retconning back to the OT, thus ruining those movies as well. Based off of his interviews, he doesn't care while hedging his bet by saying it's not going to appease all fans. At this time, he's looking to move on to WB and ruin the DC Universe. So little time and yet, so much to ruin.

Thoughts and prayers
So, so sad.

reply

Enjoy the chum.

I can't say the Last Jedi was my favorite, but I still enjoyed it. It's premature to say whether or not the Rise of Skywalker will change the way we view the Last Jedi. I'm always surprised when people assume that things that were said or things that happened in the Last Jedi need to be taken at face value. The reality is, we won't know until after the final act. There could still be some surprises in store.

reply

Good for you. Nobody is saying you shouldn't enjoy it. Unfortunately for me, my threshold for storytelling is a higher bar than yours.

reply

Not higher, just different :-)

๐Ÿ˜‚ sad attempt at trolling.

reply

That's kind of the opposite of what a troll is. Did you know that?

reply

JJ's track record is horrible. All the movie's he's directed have been bad.

I wouldn't say his movies are simply bad. It's more complicated.

JJ is extremely good creating expectations, but he sucks at delivering. He's very good imagining possibilities, but he sucks when he has to select which ones will lead to interesting stories. That's why the starting always looks promising, and the ending looks awful (even though he often runs away and leaves somebody else to be the one lumbered with ending his stories).

In general, none of his movies handles a second rewatch.

reply

The only thing this applies to is "Lost". What you're alluding to his stupid "mystery box" approach. The simple fact is that doesn't work for all types of movies. The way he applies it to movies is like jamming a square peg in a round hole. It works from him, but it makes no sense to the viewers. JJ Trek was horrible from beginning to end. Nothing in those movies work. Even if you took out the lens flare, it's still pure dreck.

TFA was the same from the opening crawl. There was no connection from the Ep.VI at all and now the First Order is dominant and the Resistance is weak? It begs the question of what the hell happened? In my opinion, if his name has a writing or directing credit, it will be bad.

reply

SW had always been whimsically inconsistent with the level of tech in any given place. But to have wheeled speeders, yet jetpack troopers, in the same scene? C'mon. That's up there with the space horse posse riding in the vacuum of a ship's exterior.

It's like they've tried for full pants-on-head direction to finish killing off the franchise.

reply

It looks increasingly likely that they are deliberately destroying what it was so they can remake it in their own SJW image.

reply

Yep. KKโ€™s plan all along.
