Finn sucks so much, I wish they killed him off

He was so pathetic and useless compared to Rey. He felt like her sidekick and never got to be her equal in any way. Remember how Luke, Han and Leia felt like equals? Man that was great.

Finn was one of many casualties in the battle to make Rey look like a goddess and, like all of the cast, he was also hurt by a profoundly stupid story and lazy writing. John Boyega did the best with what he had. The fact that I still liked his character despite all of the other negatives is a testament to the job he did.

The Finn character had so much potential on paper but they pretty much went out their way to ruin him, making him as bumbling and pathetic as possible to co(o)ntrast God mode MaRey Sue.

Yeah, it was an obvious blackface act with Finn falling over himself, constantly referring to all white people as his "massa" (stormtroopers), and the way that he constantly stared rape daggers into Rey's pristine Caucasian body.

If you really look into the symbolism of the whole thing, you can even see scenes where Finn (symbolically) smokes space meth (earth crack) and holds Rey down in an elaborate ploy to gain her penetrative consent.

In this film, another one of the subtle masterstrokes from Mister Jar Jar Abrams.

I liked Finn! And the thing I liked most about him was that he was constantly thinking on his feet, and was IMHO doing a better job of of navigating through a strange universe than anyone on these boards would do. I think his character has immense room for growth and potential badassery, now that he's decided he wants to fight, and i think that he's going to be a much more formidable person in the next two films.

Or rather, I hope so.

He made me cringe. I hope he's Finnished.

He was annoying, and totally not what you'd expect a Stormtrooper to be like at the least. I hope he gets Finnalised in the next film. If they can get rid of Solo, they can get rid of Finn.

I Like Finn too! He’s one of the most unusual characters (rogue stormtrooper) and Boyega was a decent actor. I’m excited to see where his story goes in this next movie. I liked how he just tried things, even if he was afraid. Ie, using a lightsaber, fighting his former comrades, firing from ships he’s never been in, etc.

"Remember how Luke, Han and Leia felt like equals?"

Not in A New Hope, the start of that trilogy (as TFA is the start of this one)!

Han was portrayed as an amoral scoundrel who didn't even want to help save Leia until Luke mentions how rich she probably is. Han didn't want to help fight the Death Star even though he knows firsthand through Alderaan that the Death Star is a planetary genocide machine. Even as a smuggler who doesn't like Imperial entanglement, it seems he would rather just let the Empire do as they please instead of attempting to ensure their defeat?

It is only at the last moment that he changes his tune and comes back to help Luke. He didn't exactly fight in the Battle of Yavin, he just assisted Luke with one shot to one TIE fighter.

That's not equal. Also, his brash attitude got them into trouble on the Death Star and he was portrayed more as a liability.

(I should add, let's also not forget that Finn can be compared to Poe in the same way you're comparing him to Rey, but that wouldn't work for you because you only care if a FEMALE is more competent than Finn. AND let's also not forget that Finn is an unprecedented character type in this series, as a kidnapped child soldier who only knew The First Order until he escaped them)

The new franchise sucks so much I wish they would just kill it off.

Boyega is a decent actor but he didn’t come across as a conflicted man who's spent most of his life under the harsh militaristic thumb of the First Order, he seemed more like a dude who stepped just out of Mos Eisley and got involved in an adventure.
