Did anyone else think Afterlife was terrible?

I wanted to like it, but I found it such a boring and uninspired take. It failed to justify it's existence and I don't know why Hollywood is so obsessed with trying to revive this franchise. I can't imagine this one will be much better, but maybe not as bad?

reply

Yes I thought it was pretty bad..I was even bored by the Egon tribute just a pathetic nostalgia money grab. Yawn.

reply

For me it was better than I expected.

reply

Yes, I hated it. But I think a movie like that was necessary and i'm glad it's out of the way. THIS movie looks fantastic, fresh, and pretty much what we've all been wanting since GB2. Don't like that we started with a cast of kids, but if we're gonna make a bunch of these it's good to have an early start. Now we have a cast of characters and we can get to having fun. All the setup is out of the way.

reply

Yeah. Any movie centered around kids in junior high which doesn't include a shower scene or 12 automatically earns demerits

reply

it was terrible and i couldn’t believe anyone thought differently. but maybe i should expect that reaction from the other people.

reply

Afterlife righted the many wrongs of GB2016.

reply

That doesn't mean it's a good movie.

reply

That's not saying much since there aren't many wrongs in Ghostbusters: Answer The Call.

I would put underusing Michael K Williams and the awkwardness of the dancing parts in the minus column.

It's not GB2016's fault that Murray was adamant about not doing a GB3 at that time.

reply

I thought it was entertaining and fun.

reply

I didn't think it was "terrible", just mediocre. The character of Egon's granddaughter single-handily raised the film's overall quality from 3/10 to 7/10 for me. Without her, it was pretty much a soulless (no pun intended) copy of the original 1984 movie.
