Even Chris Hemsworth admits this film is "meh"

Guys, you don't have to keep on defending this film.

Not only was the director unhappy with it, but the STAR admits it was bad.

I think they'd know if the film they worked on was bad or not.

I said I enjoyed it, I didn't say it was good.

Thor Ragnarok is the first Thor movie.

The other two were just practice.

But Ragnarok is a sitcom for brain dead people
I expected better from you Frogarama

reply

I subvert expectations like Rian Johnson!

not sure if you just new or trolling....

But This couldnt be less true....

I've been a regular on these boards for 8 years now(IMDB before coming here)

I've a Big MCU fan....I've been on 17 MCU films boards before and after thier release....and I cant unequivocally say....For the most part, Marvel fans have been completely realistic about Thor 2....

Its universally regarded as The weakest MCU film among the fan base....

The overwhelming Majority see the film as Just average, I've never seen any serious fans defending the film as Great or excellent....

all reviews, ratings and scores back up these thoughts....Thor 2 is not considered bad....But its not considered good...

Its the very definition of average...

Of course every fan base as their Minority of Hardcore fans that go to extremes, I would say In the years since Thor 2 was released, IMO close to 90 to 95% of The KNOWN Marvel/MCU fans on The IMDB boards and now this board have been extremely fair and realistic easily admitting this is one of if not the weakest MCU film....

I've seen very few Hardcore Marvel fans try to defend this film as Great, In fact On IMDB board, There was only really one....and He was an UBER troll and had over 200 sock account, where He would Praise every MCU film with Long, extremely Positive posts, Literally comparing MCU films to The Godfather films and other all time great films...

when Thor 2 came out, It was widely considered average and even among the fan base was considered average....The Bothered the UBER troll, so He used like 50 of His sock accounts making extremely positive posts, He then Literally spend the next 3 years, BUMPING them daily and literally having conversations with himself talking about how great the movie was....He did this with all MCU films but Thor 2 and Age Of Ultron he did it the most...

point being...almost everyone involved in The films including the fan base admits Thor 2 was just average and among the weakest MCU films...

I think you need to do a little research before making posts....

The truth is quite simply really....The Marvel fan base just doesnt need to defend this movie....when You go 20 for 20 over a ten year period of time and every year over the last decade Marvel Studios produces Universally praised films, Many of which go on to be considered some of the Greatest CBM's ever....You just dont feel the need to freakout and get delusional when 1 film just turns out Average...

again DC fans are on the exact other end of the spectrum...for so long they were getting no DC movies, while having to watch MCU films come out every year to unprecedented success....this drove them MAD...

So when DC finally started releasing films in 2016, They simply could not accept it when those films turned out to be bad....Getting hit with A 1-2 punch of BvS and Suicide Squad, Literally Drove the fans base MAD and Delusional....The first 2 DCEU films turn out to be complete disasters, while at the exact same time Marvel Studios release 2 of the best CBMs ever in Civil War and Doctor Strange...

simply put, this kind of failure and embarrassment drives A fan base to do what you are talking, To relentlessly and delusionally defend Bad Movies...

Marvel fans simply just dont need to do it....Having 1 out of 20 MCU films turn out average is nothing to freakout about or get embarrassed about....

Hell even Marvel Studios itself acknowledged Thor 2 was a misfire, Thats why they specificall tried to make up for it with Thor 3, They intentionally tried to make Thor 3 an important story with Big Consequences for The rest of the MCU...

anyways thats my thoughts...

PS, My personal opinion of Thor 2 falls in line with the Majority....

when I saw it it theaters, I came away thinking it was pretty good, I rated it 7.5/10

once it came out on BR, I watched it several more times and enjoyed it less...

reply

I have not watched it in 3 years, Its the only MCU film that I have no interest in rewatching....

I now have the opinion, It is the weakest MCU film....I dont consider it bad, I just consider it completely average, with not one special thing about it....

I rate it a 6/10 now...

IMO Thor 2 is the only MCU film made by Marvel Studios that I believe they didnt have a vision or real reason to make other than a cash grab....I think This was simply them not having a good story or focus and they just bumped out a sequel....

I also believe the film may have turned out slightly better had it been directed by a better director....Alan Taylor is IMO a terrible director....

Patty Jenkins was actually hired to direct but left....IMO she probably would have made a slightly better film, but nothing great with the script that was ultimately used...

23. Thor: The Dark World: The Worst MCU Movie. Why? Well, it epitomizes the major flaws in the entire franchise. For starters, this is the perfect example of when Marvel wouldn’t let their directors direct. Patty Jenkins was the original director, but thanks to creative differences, she left the project. Marvel then brought in Alan Taylor, who was mainly a TV director, AKA the kind of director who just shoots the script. And, he apparently took the title too literally, which leads to another flaw: bland-looking movies. This was a dark movie, in that it was hard to look at since several parts had little lighting in them. Outside of Frigga’s funeral and a somewhat creative final battle, it was NOT a good looking movie. And, that final battle, while creative (it looked great with Thor fighting the Dark Elves across the Nine Realms) could have been a lot more creative since this movie featured the Reality Stone, AKA the stone that LITERALLY ALTERS REALITY!!!! This was a big waste of that stone. The Russo Brothers got more creative use out of it in the few times they used it in Infinity War. Hell, James Gunn got better use out of the Power Stone, and that just blows shit up. Speaking of wasting, there’s the fact that this movie is also a good example of the MCU’s Villain Problem, when the early films made the villains bland characters used primarily for the hero to punch. The Dark World’s main villain, Malekith, is easily the MCU’s Worst Villain. The guy spends the whole movie being mad, looking bored about being mad, and looking for the Reality Stone for reasons. And, he looked like crap. This was a huge waste of Christopher Eccleston, the actor who played Malekith.

There's stuff I like about it but it feels very much like they're just going through the motions.
