Woke Trash, avoid like the plague

One of the characters is “Non-Binary”. Children should be entertained watching a movie, not getting confused about gender and having woke scripture thrown at them.

Shame on you Pixar, shame shame shame!!!!!!!!!

reply

Which character? It is never stated, and not obvious.

Are you sure you aren't just looking for things to be upset by? I get it, I don't like to be lectured by a film I just paid $20 to see. I'd rather screen out the woke lecture movies than feel like a sucker.

But you'e got the wrong one. Have you actually seen the film? There are no lectures or finger-wagging woke moments at all.

I'm not watching it because it looks dumb, and these kinds of stories have been done several dozen times. In fact, on Clownfish TV (youtube channel) they said it was basically "Zootopia" with anthropomorphic elements instead of anthropomorphic animals. That, and the "fire and water getting together" thing has been done so many times in film that they're not presenting anything new in this. In fact, a year ago Disney got into a lawsuit because there was a comic book writer/artist who claimed Disney had stolen her story, which was about a water girl and a fire guy in a world of anthropomorphic elements that got together. Sounds pretty fishy when Disney has to steal stories from other people for their films and think they can get away with it.

reply

Yeah, if you think Disney is fishy, you should watch the Kimba the White Lion videos 😅

reply

Oh yes. I heard how they supposedly "stole" the plotline from that. There have been rumors of them stealing ideas from "Nadia and the Secret of the Blue Water" for "Atlantis," and I recently learned they stole a script from Lucasfilm soon after they bought it (called "Strange Magic") and sold it under the name of "Frozen." Seems Disney has a hidden history of stealing others' ideas once in a while.

reply

Sorry for the late reply but I saw this again today and I remembered some YouTuber commenting that Disney steals because they always took stories from others since the early days. They aren't really known for using original stories.

reply

I think that's one thing that made Pixar Studios stand out in the early days; it had original stories that Disney took credit for.

reply

Fair enough.

I just watched it and don't recall seeing any non-binary character, or honestly seeing anything remotely political or woke. It's a cute, fun story. My kids loved it, and I was entertained.

reply

I had to google this, as I just saw this movie today and did not catch a nonbinary character. It’s one of Wade’s siblings, they are voiced by a nonbinary actor. Literally nobody points out that they are nonbinary and if anybody refers to them as they/them I completely missed it.

That said I believe that the first fire couple the mom is doing a love reading for both appeared to be men. I figured that was the extent of the representation we were going to get in this one.

reply

Yes, I was also thinking the same with the couples. So whoever complains about that WANTS to complain. Maybe they should talk with the manager...

reply

Shame!!!!!

triggered by a throwaway line in a minor character introduction, lol. conservatives are the real snowflakes.

I hate "woke" as much as the next guy, but this movie is not it. Didn't see any non-binary character, but there was one lesbian couple that was briefly mentioned and that's not really enough to qualify as "woke". In fact, I'm glad the media didn't blow it out of proportions like they did with Lightyear. Overall a surprisingly good and sweet movie, and a return to form for Pixar.

reply

So you basically just hate everything now huh? Must suck to go thru life that way.
