It's Netflix, guess what

Everyone is gay, racially diverse, the whole 9 yards of woke.

Seriously canceling the service next month JUST because of this shit they keep ramming us with

reply

The diverse cast is explained in the show really well. As for everyone's orientation, that didn't bother me either. What did bother me was something that I have seen in a number of Netflix shows. You watch them all the way to the end where they then force an agenda down your throat that just seems, well, forced. This would be Madeline's monologue at the end of episode 8. They tried to tie it into the show, but it left me feeling like I was getting my indoctrination from the Netflix puppetmasters.

Otherwise, not too bad. The show kept me interested to the end.

reply

How was the diverse cast explained well? He has 3 children who are clearly not the same race as him. Not mixed race, but fully of a different race. It would have made far more sense to say that they were adopted. (Sure, people will say that so and so is mixed race and looks more one way that the other. But here we are talking about 3 different people with 3 different mothers who all look nothing whatsoever like they could be their father's child).

The monologue about the supreme court and viagra was definitely pure political indoctrination. It was so over the top that it was almost comical to listen to.

reply

I mean, actors are actors. I am ok they did not look like their actor dad. It was explained that they all had different mothers and that was that. Remember the Cosby Show? Those kids were every color but white, and it was still a good show.

They were all still black.

I think both Leo and Prospero could have a caucasian parent... but with Victorine I do agree with you that there is no chance one of her parents is white... which also annoys me as it is clearly established that Roderick is the biological father (I mean she dies)...

So why you couldn't find a more light skinned black actress to play Victorine is strange... other than that I don't care if they are portrayed as gay, bi, straight or whatever... I mean all the Usher kids are kind of despicable... so doesn't displaying them as awful people go against the so-called woke agenda you are complaining about?

reply

That's kind of the point though. There's not really any reason for it other than inclusion. I feel like it takes you out of the experience because it's instantly obvious what they're doing. If they had decided to make the show about a black family or a latino family I wouldn't be thinking wait where's the white kid, the asian kid, etc.

reply

I guess Roderick likes a little "chocolate" in his coffee... Nothing wrong with that;-)

I do agree to some extent that it seemed wierd with such an extreme biracial mix... But as I said Victorine was the only one that really stood out to me... I mean no way one of her biological parents was white...

Yep seen the trailer and immediately knew this was more woke diversity gay box ticking garbage that will yet again fail to find an audience!

Do these Hollywood plebs ever learn a lesson 🤔

It's not about them learning the lesson, it's about people eventually complying.

Think about it, twenty years ago a show like this would have been decried as degenerate by the major public at large. Today, everyone mostly shrugs it off or -- as evident in this thread -- defends the woke elements as "normal". And that's really the point, eventually everyone will see this as "normal", and people complaining about it will eventually become the minority.

reply

Can't it go the other way ?

The more and more this agenda is called out .. it might just go away.... eventually?

reply

No. That's not how cultivation theory works.

If people had become outraged at it when it was becoming prevalent ten years ago, sure. Maybe things could have turned out different by voting with your wallet/views.

However, with ESG funds (which is what is keeping this movement of agenda-pushing financed and fuelled) there is no monetary reasons why big wigs will stop. At this point, even with people no longer going to theatres to see some of the more woke films, it's still everywhere else.

It's death by a thousand cuts.

Even now, the people who call this out -- and channels who priortise crticising woke nonsense have audience members who are slowly justifying and defending things that aren't that bad. Like with the Spider-Man 2 game, which was filled with woke propaganda, but a lot of people defend it by saying "it's a good game", same thing with the fetish-filled RPG Baldur's Gate 3, which has won multiple awards by critics and gamers alike, which is filled with all sorts of Rainbow Reich content.

And look at most popular shows on Netflix or Paramount or Hulu, like The Fall of the House of Usher, Sex Education, or Euphoria -- people will justify the woke elements because they feel other aspects are good.

Hollyweird will just keep boiling the frog this way -- put out a huge Left-wing propaganda turd, and then put out something a little less woke to get people to comply. Fewer and fewer people will care about being outraged or calling these things out, and eventually it will all just be seen as normal. Heck, sadly most people now are literally convinced that being homosexual is completely normal, and will argue with you about it until they're blue in the face, even though 20 years ago it was considered fringe.

"The Fall of the House of Usher, Mike Flanagan's newest masterpiece, has astonishingly surpassed the previously dominant Suits in the streaming viewership rankings, marking a sensational shift. This dramatic shift was marked by a staggering 1.2 billion minutes of viewing within just a week of its release. Such a feat in the competitive streaming landscape is noteworthy, especially considering the consistent popularity of Suits since its debut on Netflix."

Your comment didn't age well.

is the diversity in the room with us right now?

reply

Sure but they are all bad people.

reply

Wow, you're triggered so easily, Netflix should've created a wokeless safe space for you. And you guys claim the others are the snowflakes. Lol.

reply

Not saying there was an agenda, but pretty much everyone shown in the old pictures with Verna were Republicans and/or someone the left hates. Also, don't forget, men are so simple, all the want to do is f**k and women are better at running things.

reply

Of course there was an agenda. But this was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. I honestly canceled Netflix after this.

reply

Good on you.
