Well, it's over finale finito ... Any comments/discussion (SPOILERS)

I was not happy with the finale, but I figured I probably would not be since I have not been happy with the series. I put up with it because it has a lot of cool characters and a story arc that is kind of cool, but even going back to the Governor, or should that be The Governor I, he was just too weird and evil, and insane.

Does anyone thing people would be to stupid or easily intimidated by a government of thugs as in Woodbury.

They also killed off too many good characters too. I mean, Rosita - with a baby! And then Luke and his girlfriend too? No reason for that.

The speech Maggie gave to Negan was a pretty good scene.

Then also the tiny disjointed scenes at the end where they wedged in Michonne and Rick? False advertising. Was that even filmed recently, or dug up off the cutting room floor?

Still the variant walkers do not fit the series ... you can't just change the physics of a fantasy world on demand.

What do others think?

Then there is whatever we are going to see from a new series?

That would be Okay with me. I keep wondering what really became of Rick and Michonne, and why did they do nothing with those two characters for so many years? Are they coming back in some way, or was that just old footage they dug up to tease the fans?

They dies because an apocalypse is a dangerous and people die and the deaths made perfect sense in the context of the scene
And the Rick and Michone scenes were a setup for the spin-off
I realizes you can’t handle people dying but really, get your head outta your ass, life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows

Don't you realize that filling the public space with hate and stupid is a Republican strategy to divide the populace. "He" is probably an AI GOP-bot programmed to be mean and nasty and stupid in a way no actual human being could be and stand themselves. If "he" was a real person hating life so much he would have suicided or gone postal.

LOL, one thing we are supposed to see is Daryl in Paris. Daryl getting to Paris on a motorcycle should be interesting.

The finale was disappointing. It reminded me of why I stopped watching the show a few seasons ago. You would think they could have done something great with the finale, but because of all the spinoffs the finale didn't really conclude anything.

A proper finale would have at least seen Rick reunited with Judith. Even though Andrew Lincoln left the show years ago, Rick will always be the main character. When they show was at its peak, it was Rick's story.

I always thought a good way to end the show would be with Rick, Daryl, and the gang about to fight in some epic battle only to find out that just a few miles from where they are the country has been reestablished. A cure for the zombie virus has been found and deployed all over, but for whatever reason where Rick's people are is the last place that gets liberated.

I agree. It was mediocre at best, like the show itself.
The thing is you would really have to work hard to keep this show at such a superficial level.
We Americans, our media really excels at brainless.
They could have worked out much more interesting rules and situations instead of
clash after clash with everything other being evil. But Alexandria seemed closest to
that.
The things they chose to explore were always straight down the rathole,and the same
thing every time,some evil other group, and these guys are the only good guys.

I liked it until they killed off Rick and Carl - after that it became a rehash of previous plots.

I agree! Very well acted and it sets things up, I think, for their new spin off.

I'm pretty sure that was done to set things up for their new spin off. The writers probably thought that if they showed Rick and Michonne, it would pique more interest in the new show.

I also was not happy about that. I felt it was completely unnecessary.

I couldn't get into Tales of The Walking Dead but I'm definitely going to try the three new ones. I just can't get enough of TWD. It's not as good as it was the first few seasons but I still love the show.

Those ending scenes with Michonne and Rick were supposed to be current events. They're well and alive and ready for spin-offs. There were supposed to be 2 movies, but that was before the pandemic. I'm sure plans were scrubbed. One was supposed to be a Rick movie about the Civic Republic (CR).
