Taking out the race swapping stuff...

...what would you give the rating? I haven't seen it but I'm wondering if it's as bad as people are saying.

reply

Considering that critics AND audience hate it, I highly doubt it's manbabies crying or me not feel like center of attention. It's a universal despise of the show. Meta humor is just bad.

reply

I'm aware. But the 1.3 IMDb score seems like it's review bombing. Maybe it's like a 5.5 or something.

reply

I WATCHED IT...5.5 IS FAIR...IT REMINDS ME OF AN EDGY ADULT SWIM SHOW FROM 15 YEARS AGO...YOU EVER SEE THE MIKE TYSON MYSTERIES?...IT'S A LOT LIKE THAT...BUT NOT DONE AS WELL...THE WRITING AND THE VOICE ACTING ARE A BIT STALE AND THE ANIMATION STYLE IS THAT BOLD IN YOUR FACE THING THAT IS POPULAR WITH THE KIDDIES...OVERALL IT'S NOT BAD...BUT IT HAS ALL BEEN DONE BEFORE...ONLY BETTER...TAKE THE HATE WATCHING AND SPEWING OUT OF THE EQUATION AND THIS SHOW WOULD HAVE COME AND GONE AND BEEN FORGOTTEN FAIRLY QUICKLY.

So it's not completely made for kids?

reply

NOT AT ALL...IT'S HORNY AND GORY AND UNHINGED.

reply

I saw a clip in which Fred(?) tells Velma that it was good to see a white guy have something bad happen to him for a change. So no, showing kids this series to teach them to be racist would not be a good thing.

reply

🤣

reply

You're convincing me to watch it.

reply

My guess is you're not a kid, so...

reply

YOU GONNA ASK HIM OUT?

reply

That won't stop a few people on this site unfortunately.

reply

So basically, the answer is no, you shouldn't watch it.

reply

There is nudity a few minutes in to the first episode. It’s definitely not the way introduce your kids to scooby doo

reply

Like actual nudity or they're naked but their bodies are strategically covered behind stuff?

reply

some animated booty. no nipple scenes, soap suds coverage
i think the show mocks wokeness by intentionally being over woke.
its okay. 4 or 5. doesnt deserve an imdb 1.3 score.

reply

That seems like Simpsons kind of nudity. That's too much for their demographic.

reply

"Their demographic"?

reply

Simpsons is catered more toward older kids. Scooby Doo was always geared toward even the youngest of children.

reply

I'm middle aged. Lot of the Fandom Menance types I listen to are middle aged. I've heard VERY little about the nudity. That is very, very low on teh list of complaints.

reply

There is soap over the nipples, but it’s not a quick glimpse, the entire scene takes place in the girls locker room shower. Here is a link, you can see for yourself.

reply

Wow, I didn't expect that at all. I can't believe they decided to go this way.

reply

TAKE THE HATE WATCHING AND SPEWING OUT OF THE EQUATION AND THIS SHOW WOULD HAVE COME AND GONE AND BEEN FORGOTTEN FAIRLY QUICKLY.

Pretty much lol

reply

I was looking forward to the show, but the reality is, the show really is that bad. From just episode 1, I'd probably give it like a 2-3 out of 10.

And that's coming from a fan of both scooby, and the new harley quinn series. I was looking forward to something like harley, but for the scooby doo franchise. Instead, it's just a lazily written show that isn't particularly interesting. Again, just from episode 1, but it's so bad, I don't really wanna keep watching more of it.

reply

I've only seen the trailer but I really don't like the way the animation looks. I've noticed a lot of animated series look like that nowadays.

reply

According to IMDb Trivia. Reading the below it would seem the show flopped for more reasons than the Woke ones would like to admit to so they will just call everyone racist as per usual.

The lowest-rated project ever produced by Warner Bros. Animation, surpassing ThunderCats Roar (2020) and Little Ellen (2021).

The lowest-rated series ever produced by HBO, surpassing Santa Inc. (2021).

The lowest-rated animated project of the 21st century, tied with Foodfight! (2012).

The Daily Mail reported in January 2023 that the series was being slammed as a "massive disaster." Scooby Doo fans railed against it saying it veered too far from the original series by race/gender shifting all the characters and featuring the "over-sexualization" of "unlikeable" 15-year-old character

Oh man, that's special.

reply

I had to look up Foodfight, it sounds awful. Given the names associated with it someone thought it was a great idea though and invested a lot in it.

reply

It sucks. You might expect an origin story, as this claims to be, would be similar to the original series. But it is not, at all. Race swapping and the adult content was the least of the problems with this trash.

reply

I think the other issue is the basic concept of taking what was always a supporting character and trying to make them the star. I never considered Velma to be all that interesting in the original cartoons. It was all about Shaggy and Scooby. And Daphne of course lol.

reply

I want an origin story of their van.
