Why do shows like this on one side get a lot of hate, but also high audience ratings

It has a 6.2 on IMDb as I am writing this.

It seems like I am in a Echo chamber (eh? eh?) where everyone I see online hate shows like this, but I am constantly surprised that people seem to like it.

Why? I saw Hawkeye (2021) and I hated how Kingpin was treated there, so I havent watched this show (other than youtube recap), but why would anyone like this?

reply

6.2 is not that high for a show on IMDB

And as to why? MCU/Disney movies and shows are currently very polarizing, you have die hard marvel fans, "fans" who like to hate and then there's the culture wars/wokeness stuff.

I personally did not like this at all, the lead character is unlikable the actress terrible, the story boring and pointless and they neutered and wasted Kingpin and Daredevil. i give it a 4/10 at most.

Yeah. Marvel is a strife to watch now.

I am 41 now. So its probably not ment for me, but a good anything can appeal to anyone, right?

I’m a huge MCU fan but Echo is easily one of the worst things to come out of it. The finale in particular was so bad and they’ve ruined Kingpin.

Secret Invasion and Echo have been absolute borefests but I was at least hoping for some good fight scenes in Echo but it was clearly just made in a rush to get a new Marvel show on Disney plus.

I have three main problems with MCU now.

1) Its too "funny". The heroes become one dimensional because they all behave the same with strife. They react with joking around. It minimize the story and the impact of the events.

2) Its too bloated

3) The PC narratives.

Why on earth they green-light Echo will always be a big mystery. As absolutely no one was interested in that side character from a boring show of another side character that no one was interested in.

Getting review bombed. It has a 6.2 overall rating, but 6.7 for US voters. More fans of native Americans?

reply

6.2 is low for a show, very low.

I don't watch any show that's bellow 7.5.

reply

I figured that the high audience ratings are from the few people that bothered to watch. If Echo has a 6, then it really must be bad.

reply

6 does not do justice to the show, 4 is more appropriate.

It had Kingpin and ruined him, emotionally I would give it a 1.

reply

I’m pretty sure it’d be a 4 or lower if more people watched. Thing is, more views would only boost their ratings, unless they pirated it.

But more people are coming out saying these shows aren’t even worth pirating, so the scores we get are likely from the shills and casuals/tourists who’ll watch anything.

reply

I'm pretty sure you are a no-nothing troll. The episode ratings are all higher than 6.

reply

You’re one to talk.

“The episode ratings are all higher than 6.“
So?

reply

Episode ratings on IMDB mean dick now. For reference look at the ratings for Rings of Dogshit, also known as "A Billion Bollars Worth of Dogshit".

Because people who hate it - don't watch. But that little audience who specifically went - they liked it.

It was same with Andor. It was boring and general audience did not show up or dropped it after 1 episode. But those who are into those kind of slow shows - watched it and liked it. I dropped Andor after 2 episodes because it was boring and I simply didn't care about what was happening. But it was well shot and done show. It wasnt bad. Just not for my taste.

Could be same with Echo. I personally don't care about character and her struggles. But maybe those few who watched - they liked it.

Simple: a lot of the hate comes from those who pre-hated shows like this and… oh, fuggetaboutit.

Why, oh why would anyone like this, though? Oh, I’m sure the projecting agendists here crying about what upsets their crying selves as usual be speaking facts. 🤓

In any case, go Maya! 👊
