Don't like these organized crime movies, this stuff is sick-O! 2/5

First, who knows what the size of the organized crime problem is in the world?

I am sure it is a major problem - crime & corruption. The problem is that does it still exist? Why with all the surveillance and technology we have today, how can organized crime function, unless it runs the country as well, and the media.

But back to this movie ... it is like fake news. This covers organized crime, the labor movement, politics, business, the police ... none of us know what is going on in our country with all of these things.

But make a movie about this and people eat their popcorn and junk food and pretend they know something, when all of this is nonsense. Who knows that really happened with these people. Scorcese's movies are scams to be sensationalistic money-makers ... that is all.

I do have to say the techniques were great ... the movie was technically brilliant and well done.

I suggest you watch series like narcos and gomorrah. Especially the latter is pretty relevant currently imo.

yeah, i had to get into it as well. I guess you either love or hate the hyper-realistic film style. But it does paint a good picture if you want to get an idea of what modern day like organized crime looks like.

Then why do you (apparently) watch them and even go to the trouble of hopping online to tell everyone that you do not like gangster movies?

Geez, I think one good thing about the dial-up modem days is people would think twice about going through all that just to make inane posts.

I don't like gangster movies, but I would rather be in a gangster movie or
binge watch a bunch of them than read the BS from a newly created moron
account with 108 useless troll comments.
How many other troll accounts do you "hop" between asshole? IGNORED.

Nothing about his post was a "troll post" and just because you shoot down any criticism like that doesn't mean anybody else will buy it too. When I read the title of your thread I rolled my eyes already "oh, it's one of these guys!"
Also, the fact that you immediately insulted him doesn'T exactly give you any credibility when it comes to calling out trolls.

Anyways, guess what, I don't like ski jumping, it bores me to death and I struggle to respect these 50kg "men" flying through the air looking like idiots in their tights. But I won't go to a ski jumping forum and tell everyone how much I dislike it after forcing myself to watch a ski jumping event.

That being said, I found Irishman to be underwhelming mostly due to horrible CGI and at times bad acting (DeNiro fight scene with the shop owner in the first third of the movie was hard to watch so bad it was)... Godfellas is so much better, so are all the other Scorsese gangster/crime movies.

I generally stop reading a comment when it mentions the word troll. Troll is just a response used by an idiot to braindead to string together even a rudimentary response to something they don't agree with. If someone says a movie is bad because of X,Y, Z... I will accept that those are the reasons they didn't like the movie. If I disagree I might point out why they are wrong, but simply saying troll really just means I didn't like what I read.. doesn't mean they didn't have a valid point. Two comments have become so tiring lately.. troll and boomer... if that's the extent of your comment don't bother making a comment to begin with.

I think Scorsese's movies are always great to watch...he's a true master filmmaker who's continues to create art that imitates life. I was not let down by The Irishman, I enjoyed watching it a lot. Scorsese doesn't disappoint. Great director. Great performances. Great dialogue. It was not a perfect movie, but it was still a great movie!

I'd say it was a watchable movie, if just for the national event that it is, and the famous actors and director. I had no trouble watching it, and watching it to the end. I did not see a major problem with the beating at the grocery store. Mostly because I don't worship violence or need to see it, even if movies that have a violent element. But there is no way I could call this a great movie, as in a classic. Scorsese is a classic and has style and voice that he sticks by, and he is expert at crafting these movies. You have to respect him for that - or any of them. These are famous Hollywood-Americans. But, the writing the plot was mediocre, and there was really no character act for any of them, except maybe for Hoffa whose life portrayed as a character arc to the grave. There is no point in watching such a movie, and not much except a few minutes of entertainment.

No different than how Hollywood romanticizes war movies. Scorcese is nostalgic and has a yearning for these mob periods in America. These are all bad criminals, and he makes them anti-heroes. So yeah, I kind of agree. It's sick-o.
