Matt Smith totally stole the show

Never really paid much attention to him before this but he was brilliant here, by far the most interesting character introduced so far although I suppose his character is written to be a scene stealer.

Daemon - I see Otto Hightower for what he is-
Viserys - A loyal and honourable hand-
Daemon - A C**T!!!

I disagree. Matt Smith's look and his voice are too soft for an alpha male warrior who would be the King. He tried to make up for it by exaggerating his performance but that just shifted his portrayal of Daemon towards that of the stereotypical moustache twirling villain. I know he has a loyal and devoted following amongst the ladies but I really don't know what they see in him, perhaps it's below the waist.

I thought his soft voice and looks actually added menace to his character

reply

If that's the case then I guess Samwell Tarly must have scared the hell out of you.

reply

Ok

reply

Disagree. To me he wasn't the right actor for the role.

reply

I agree with you, asom. The guy’s a nonstarter, tedium on 2 legs. Joffrey was an example of how to play a charismatic prick.

reply

Either you have your characters confused, or you don't know what charismatic means. Jaime might fit, but not Joffrey.

reply

Like he does in every crappy Hollywood movie he's cast in?

reply

I was seeing Morbius recently. I wouldn't recommend it. Boring... except any moment Matt Smith or Jared Harris are in the screen. They can't save the movie, but they save their scenes.

I have to admit I was more impressed by Matt Smith's efforts in episode two than in episode one. That may simply be that episode two was much better than episode one as far as character development went. Episode one was a little on the hysterical side. I will keep a more open mind about his acting ability after this.

He is a weird looking guy though, in fact pretty much the whole cast is a bit weird looking. Like some sort of Game of Thrones Bizarro World. Even the weather is all fucked up. Dim and misty most of the time.

Smith is charismatic as heck and acts with his entire body. The more opportunities to show that off the better off the show will be.

reply

If someone would paint some eyebrows on him he could act even more.

So good to see Matt Smith on my TV screen again. I didn't realize how much I missed watching him chew up the scenery. He was brilliant on Doctor Who.
