The trailer looks epic. But I definitely wouldn't be surprised if this is more art house then epic Viking blockbuster the trailer is letting on.

Great cast though, sure Anya Taylor Joy is probably a little over exposed right now but having her in it with bring in a younger audience and put more eyes on the film and she's a good actress too. Anya, William Dafoe, Ralph Ineson and Katie Dickie have been in Egger's films before. Alexander Skarsgaard is a perfect fit, and his brother Bill is also in this. Bjork is a out there casting but makes perfect sense too. I'm guessing Hawke, Kidman and Dafoe will probably be more cameos then main roles.

A Massive fan of the Witch and especially The Lighthouse. So expecting big things from this one.

"In an exclusive interview with IGN, Eggers elaborated on why The Northman is his most mainstream film yet (even though it still packs enough offbeat punch for fans of his past work), its ancient literary inspirations, his deep research into Viking culture, and more."

It won't be as stereotypical as some are thinking. Even from the emphasis on portraiture in the trailer, you can tell it's going to be different -- "Viking Hamlet", as Eggers put it.
