Why not make a Hulk show instead?

Or a movie , not sure why they don't like The Hulk , a Hulk show would be amazing , not to mention that She-Hulk could be part of the show as well.

Someone's got to smash the patriarchy, and it's not going to be Bruce Banner. Hollywood doesn't care if you're entertained or not.

reply

Universal Studios won’t let them do any Hulk projects.

reply

How? The rights reverted back to Marvel , Universal hasn't used The Hulk in a movie for 13 years.

reply

The agreement they signed gave Universal the right to veto any solo Hulk projects while Marvel could use Hulk in anything they want as a side character. It wasn’t their smartest move. That’s why they had Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok. They wanted to do a Planet Hulk movie but Universal said no, so they just tacked that storyline onto a different movie.

reply

Are you aware that if Universal doesn't make a solo Hulk movie every 7 years the rights expire and revert back? that's how X-Men rights reverted back to Marvel (and FF) , Universal failed to "make" a Hulk movie after The Incredible Hulk(2008) , also do you know that Universal has only the rights to distribute a Hulk movie? Only Marvel has the rights to produce a Hulk movie , if they don't , Universal can't make a movie on their own.
And finally , Universal hasn't any rights on TV Shows , only movies.

reply

What? That's not what happened with the Fantastic Four and X-Men rights. Marvel only got them because Disney bought Fox. Heck, their last X-Men movie was just last year. Sure, it was called New Mutants but it still counts as an X-Men film property. Also the last Fantastic Four movie was less than 7 years ago. It will be 7 years come next Augest.

reply

You can look it up but yeah, that is the agreement. Kevin Feige has been wanting to do a Hulk movie for years but couldn't. That’s why Thor: Ragnarok used the Planet Hulk storyline.

reply

My understanding is (from what Ruffalo has said), Marvel/Disney can MAKE a Hulk movie, but Universal has the distribution rights.

So Marvel/Disney COULD make a movie, only to see the profits etc go to Universal.

There's not enough $$$ in it for them.

reply

That explains a lot!

reply

Sound so stupid these deals. Clearly Marvel does it better with these characters than say Sony or Universal.

Corporations are greedy. It’s just how it works.

I don't think you really understand the real issue of why Marvel didn't own all these rights. You see back in the early 90s, Marvel went bankrupt and had to sell all their film rights to all their characters to whatever studio would take them.

Something a lot of people don't know is that all the Avengers characters weren't sold together when the rights were sold. The Thor rights went to a different studio than the Iron Man rights and the Captain America rights went to a different studio than all the others.

The only reason Marvel got back the rights to all the Avengers characters is because these studios that owned the rights to all these different Avengers characters couldn't think of a good way to make a good long lasting film series about them.

Whether anyone likes it or not Spider-Man and X-Men were just way more popular and profitable than each of the solo Avengers were.

That's why Universal owns Hulk instead of Marvel and why a solo Hulk TV or film series can't be produced. Then again, I'm not sure why a She Hulk Streaming series can be produced but not a Hulk one.

WHY NOT?...SHE HULK IS A VIABLE CHARACTER AND REGULAR HULK HAS BEEN DONE,MULTIPLE TIMES NOW...LOOKS COOL TO ME.

reply

I think Hulk is one of the most boring characters out there.
I recall watching the hulk cartoon in the 90's and it wasn't that great.
The idea of a dude struggling with his dr hyde personality is cool, but making it a series is not. Truth is, I really don't like the hulk persona - he's a moron, Hulk Smash! lol Seeing him fight is cool, but the longer that persona stays on screen, not fighting, the more disinterested I am, because Hulk is a such a dull personality due to absolute lack of intelligence.

reply

Hulk was perfectly fine in Avengers 1, 2, and Ragnorak, but they're really screwed him over with Infinity War and Endgame. I understand they wanted to show Professor Hulk because the Hulk has had many personas, but it should have NEVER taken over as the main personality. Maybe for a period of time - or even in this show - but classic Hulk should have popped up when Thanos returned. He was owed revenge.

Finally a movie about Michael Obama.
