The trailer looks like shit.

Mediocre CGI, a geriatric Keanu, NPH acting the same way he always does, a different feel than the rest of the series, seemingly retconned the story, and White Rabbit playing the entire time made the trailer move by slower.

I'll probably still watch it because I've seen the others, but this looks like shit.

reply

People lost common sense. Their 16-year old version of themselves were probably more mature.

reply

I loved the song ... but that's all. Rest was shit indeed.

And wtf is with Alice in Wonderland??? That's a magical world, not a virtual world.

reply

I don't mind the song, just not in the trailer.

reply

while I like that song on its own, felt very wrong shoe horned in here - like when any movie glams on to a HIT SONG to feel more interesting. it was distracting to me - even though the lyrics fit kinda - this is a SCI-FI action film, not a drug trip. I hope anyway

reply

It's referenced in the first movie...

reply

Uber shit, if I may add. Looked like a parody at times.

reply

It looked like The Matrix Jr.

reply

If I'd gone into the trailer without knowing it's for The Matrix, I would've thought it was something else. It doesn't give off Matrix vibes.

It honestly looked like a bunch of Sci-Fi flicks we've already seen before all rolled into one.

Not surprised they've "reused" so many stuff from the franchise in this. Nostalgia sells big nowadays. It's a helluva drug

reply

It looks like they're doing an alternate universe thing, so I think that's why it looks like they're reusing some stuff.

As I mentioned to the user above, it feels like The Matrix Jr. It's somewhat like The Matrix, but some poorer version.

reply

You mean like another simulation? Oh yeah, that's probably it. I'm honestly setting my expectations pretty low.

I know there's no way it's gonna top the first one. That one is just magnificent. But I just hope it's at least better than The Sequels. Not a high bar to clear but still.

reply

It looks like a soft reboot. Also they recast Morpheus for new trendy black guy?

reply

I think it's a younger version of him.

reply

Seems that way. The actor recently posted a pic of him in the role with just the word "Morpheus"

reply

Definitely felt like a reboot. The new trend must be to make a sequel and recycle the originals entire plot.

reply

Just watched it; lots of interesting visuals and effects, that would almost certainly have me very interested... if this had nothing to do with The Matrix.

Seriously, that story is over, and has been for almost two decades now. Why not do something new instead?

reply

I'll watch it anyway, but I'd be more excited if this wasn't a Matrix movie.

reply

It was a curious choice to bring back the rather aged Keanu Reeves & Carrie-Anne Moss but recast Laurence Fishburne's Morpheus whose characterization in the original film was arguably the most iconic.

reply

I read somewhere that Morpheus might be a young version than in the previous films.

reply

Keanu looks far from being geriatric

reply

I mean compared to the other movies.
