Hollywood has ALWAYS been progressive though. Conservatives have always had a problem with that and that won't change, it goes against most of the principles you live and base your life on. It didn't just suddenly happen. When Captain Kirk from the Starship Enterprise kissed a black woman, people lost their shit. It doesn't seem like a big deal now in most conservative circles but at the time it was just like how you feel LGBT are now in all television shows, because after that, interracial couples on television increased rapidly! One reason is because it got attention, these TV shows are based on ratings and they know what increases ratings.
YES, Hollywood is 'woke' but it always has been. I don't understand the constant bemoaning about this. I'm sure it would suck being a conservative and having media counter your ideals. I get that but its not a surprise is it?

On Hollywood always being woke, I would say it's complicated. Yes there were moments that pushed the envelope like the famous kiss between Kirk and Uhura on Star Trek — although despite what people think, it actually wasn't the first interracial kiss on television, it was on a British show (a televised play) from 1962 (6 years before Star Trek) called "You in Your Small Corner" — but moments like the interracial kiss were rare. For the most part TV wasn't that woke. It was just normal entertainment without any political messages. You did start to get a little bit more of that in the 70's with shows like All in the Family (a great show), and some black shows that would of course focus a little bit on race. But it was never obnoxious or too preachy. It just raised people's consciousness about some things/perspectives that they never considered. And because it was just a few shows, it didn't feel overwhelming. Also, if you were really conservative and the message was upsetting to you, you didn't have to watch, there was plenty of stuff (most) that wasn't political or controversial.
What is happening today however (since ~2015), is what I would call woke. For me it's different than examples of "wokeness" in the past. Contemporary wokeness is not just about creating a few shows that are pushing social boundaries, it's about a totalitarian ideology that is being imposed on the entire industry at all levels. For the people pushing it, it's not good enough to make a couple of movies with LGBTQ characters/themes or interracial couples, or having a political message, for these people everything has to conform to this new ideology. LGBTQ people & minorities have to be represented in every movie. Everything must be diverse, including behind the camera, like in the writers rooms and the production crew. And the political message is shoehorned in everywhere. You can't get away from it.

A couple would be a 20:1 ratio. 20 movies/TV shows representing white heterosexual families/groups to 1 LGBTQ family/group or interracial couple . And a 5:1 White to black (non-interracial couples).
These are more or less the numbers that we used to see pre 2015. There were probably more black people represented in movies than the numbers I gave (pre 2015), and I would be fine with that.

The comment above by LanceDance, said it perfectly. The country is primarily white, cis, and heterosexual. That is the overwhelming majority. That is what is considered normal. That is the dominant culture. Other races are called minorities for a reason. And with respect to the Alphabet people, they are a fraction of the population. And when it comes to other weirdos like non-binaries, they are delusional anomalies not even worth mentioning. Yet, they expect to be represented in the media like they matter. They don't. Am I saying there should be no movies about them or with them, NO, of course not, but those movies should be a tiny minority of the slew of movies being released.
Having said all that, "why should those films remain the majority" is ultimately a personal opinion. The Alphabet people would say that they (as people) exist, and should be represented, a perfectly reasonable argument, and they are free to make it.

Prime example being Catwoman in the Batman. Why I find this stupid is Catwoman's race is not essential to her character. She has been portrayed by Eartha Kitt in the past, also she was not white in the Year one comic book. You just are used to seeing her portrayed as white therefore people like you think her race is essential because that is what you are used to seeing her as. Not one word gets said by people like you when Tiger Lily gets portrayed by a white actress Rooney Mara in the movie Pan. A character who is obviously not white in past portrayals. I only think swapping is an issue when the race is essential to the character.
For instance you can't have a black actor portray Abraham Lincoln. Just like how you can't have a white actor portray Martin Luther King. Nothing about Catwoman's race is essential to her character yet plenty flipped their lid when they saw who was cast as her.
I agree that Catwoman's race is not essential. I think people complained more about it being Hale Berry rather than just being black. I think it's okay if Catwoman is black, especially considering that she was originally played by Eartha Kitt. But sure, some people might prefer a white actor, and I might even be one of them, I guess it depends on the role. I certainly wouldn't want a white actor playing Red in Shawshank Redemption. Morgan Freeman is the only choice, but even if it was another actor, I prefer that the actor was black. I think it just fit better in the movie, despite the character being white in the book. Having said that, I generally prefer white actors in most of the gender swapped roles. And gender swapping in general really bothers me regardless of which direction it goes. in
