Oh these bells are annoying me

I guess I’ll incinerate everyone in the city.

she broke bad...except it wasnt in 6 seasons, it was in 5 seconds :p

reply

I though she was gonna blaze up a path to the Red Keep, but she went full pac-man

reply

It really would have helped if someone had fucking explained the significance of the bells, from Dany's initial reaction I wondered if it meant that the city had surrendered. But no, she kept burning the place down.

reply

As discussed by Tyrion in the episode...the bells did mean surrender. She went on a crazy irrational rampage that was not earned from a writing standpoint! I get her going for the red keep or whatever is but...to kill all those innocents? For what?! To symbolize she is the mad queen?! That wasn't really earned. I love the show but...IDK who this falls on...but perhaps it is HBO not wanting to dole out the cash so all these events can have their proper buildup. I get it from a business standpoint but yeah.

reply

Well, as she told Tyrion; she basically didn’t care about those people, just the future she’d secure for them.
When someone has a goal, the line that would “not be crossed” often gets moved by self serving reasoning. As they explained after the credit/previews. She felt betrayed by everyone and she took it all personal.

reply

Yes, she would have done the same to Meereen, but Tyrion talked her.out of it. She no longer trusted Tyrion's advice, because it always ended up badly for her. So she did what Olenna told her to, she's a dragon, go be a dragon.

Then basically whoever survives can live in peace along with the next generation.

reply

I wonder if she will feel any remorse at all in the next episode. (If even just in private).

reply

The bells meant surrender. The whole episode built the bells up as significant. What were you doing?

reply

When those bells went off I immediately remembered they were the same bells that went off at Ned's execution, I was then immediately supportive of whatever Daenerys wanted to do.
