No one gives a crap about the spinoffs

We just want an ending to the ASOIAF storyline. If Martin is just giving up on it and focusing his efforts on promote new TV shows about stuff that happened in the past, he's completely lost touch. It's funny how he criticises the showrunners for not making 13 seasons of GoT when he can't even finish the books it's based on.

reply

Did Martin really say he wanted 13 seasons???

He's a clueless fat fuck who has learned nothing about writing at his age, if he did. His books desperately needed editing as well as a plot and an end game, the shows writers have done what he didn't, or wouldn't. The show's writing may not be perfect, but it's infinitely better than the sluggish, meandering writing of the later books.

reply

Look at this from his prospective. At the last chapter of his life he got everything he wanted. He is one of the most famous people on earth. He wants to enjoy it.
And I say, let him. Let him rip his rewards and enjoy a few years of touring cons and discussing football in his blog and whatever. His writing is getting worse anyhow and I'm quite all right with someone else doing the last books after he is gone.

reply

What if Martin finished all of his books years ago and is just milking the fame and fortune by pretending otherwise? He has been releasing numerous spinoff books related to GOT which gives him an extra profit. He knows after he releases the last GOT book, interest in it will wane. Ingenious diabolical marketing ploy?

reply

If that's the case, his publishers would gang up and murder him with a blunt instrument if they ever found out he'd been sitting on a guaranteed best-seller, in an era of declining book sales.

No jury would convict them.

reply

His diabolical plan is to have his bestsellers released only after he has sold countless spinoffs in the interim that desperate fans will buy while waiting for GOT two final books. His greedy publishers will make extra money with the spin-offs, too.

"George RR Martin's Prequel Gives Clues To 'Game of Thrones' Season Eight"

Recent headline from yet another spinoff he's releasing. I was semi-joking at first, but now I'm convinced I accidentally stumbled on the truth. He's as calculating as Littlefinger.

reply

Well, I know that I don't give a crap about the spin offs.
I just want to see what happens on GOT...I think we pretty much know about its history.

GRRM has long ago lost his passion for the series and its characters and it doesn't look like he'll ever get it back. Even if he tries it looks like he'll meander around like his last few installments..
He's just letting the show tell the tale and he'll keep procrastinating until most people have moved on.

reply

Speak for yourself because I give a crap.

reply

Im also excited about the new shows.

reply

Same here. Kinda sick of all these people moaning about Martin supposedly taking his time. Just deal with it. Would they like to try writing an epic novel series that has a huge popular culture impact?

reply

I'm very interested in the spinoffs, but yeah, he should finish the ASOIAF novels.

reply

It would be nice if he finished the books, wouldn't it? Still, I'm looking forward to the spinoffs.
