How are the Dothraki kept in check by Dany?

They're thousands of men stuck on an island together presumably, and they're going to this foreign land to invade it. They are pillagers and rapists by nature, does that mean they are going around raping everyone in Westeros? Why isn't this mentioned in the show at all? It's a pretty important point. Who are they raping? When they defeated the Lannisters did they just rape everyone in Highgarden?

Good question and who or what are her Dragons eating? they are the size of 747's now and need a lot of meat.

Dany ended that practice for the Dothraki who serve her. That's what got Drogo killed, because she was making all the villagers her slaves so they couldn't rape them. And some of the Dothraki disagreed. But since season 6 when she burned all the Khals, she became the leader of all the Dothraki. They still get to raid castles though, she said they can kill the men in the iron suits and tear down their stone houses.

"Dany ended that practice for the Dothraki who serve her."

You can't just make a statement like this without actually explaining how she did it. She just said "don't do this" and they stopped? This is supposed to be a semi-realistic fantasy that's the whole point of the show. The first 4 seasons were all about this sort of political back and forth and people competing to have their ways. It's all gone out the window now and Dany just gets her way to rush to the end.

Yes, pretty much that's what she did. If they want to join her team, that was part of the deal. The reasons why they followed her are given in seasons 1 through 7.

I'd guess that she didn't just say "Do this", I'm pretty sure she added an "...or you'll be Drogon's breakfast.". Khals just don't respect anyone who is polite about these things.

But there's a couple of other factors - such as the fact that every khal now in charge owes his position to her burning his predecessor. And they seem to regard her as divine or semi-divine, which would give her more authority than any mortal khal.

reply

They don't have any more khals because after she killed them all, she assumed their positions and no one challenged her. What she did instead was ask them to sail with her to conquer Westeros. They all did so willingly, and she made them all her bloodriders.

It's television. Same reason Dany survived the first season. Dothraki culture is built around slavery, Ironborn culture is built around reaving. Both give up the most important aspect of their culture in one episode to push Dany's story.
