The golden company of essos.

am I the only one who think that Theon in the process of saving his sister Yara kills Euron and take over the Golden Company, which leaves Cersi with nothing at all.

Nice story idea but i doubt it...
I think Euron would wipe the floor with Theon...Theon got very lucky against that Ironborn brute in the finale

Theon is a competent warrior and an excellent archer. He was doing fine in that battle with Euron before the PTSD kicked in. If he had a bow in that situation, he would've split Euron's face like an apple.

Theon's story line is being set up on a redemption arch for sure, or else he would have been killed off by Euron in their initial battle. I think he will end up saving Yara and causing Euron's demise, but I don't think he'll survive the confrontation.

The way the story's being set up, the one thing he has to do before he dies is save Yara.

Euron won't be in command of the Golden Company, he'll just be ferrying them across the ocean. They'll be paid through the Iron Bank, not through Euron, because Cersei isn't stupid enough to trust a pirate with that kind of money.

So no, if Theon defeats the SOB, he doesn't get to command the mercenaries. He probably doesn't even get to command Euron's fleet, because the Ironborn aren't dutiful or obedient, if their commander is killed some subordinate captains will try to take command themselves, or run off to be independent pirates.

reply

If anyone takes over the Golden Company, it will be Daario.

reply

That would be cool if that happened, Daenerys kept him in Meereen to keep the peace, if he finds out the Golden Company is heading to Westeros against his queen, he may become involved.

reply

Also she has the fire cult people, and Jorah was once with the Golden Company, at least in the books.

reply

probably, I don't think Theon's got that much left in his story myself, but could be.

reply

I wish that were so, but seeing as how this show is always about Cersei +1 over everyone else, Euron will succeed in acquiring the Golden Company's 20,000 soldiers, and transporting them over to Westeros.

It'll be interesting if Theon and his "20 good men" will be able to be involved with that somehow, and that would be very cool if he is able to disrupt Euron's orders. Can't believe we have to wait a year to find out...
