Over TWO DOZEN deceased Harry Potter actors...

Kinda creepy since the franchise just finished about a decade ago. It's getting to the point that they have so many dead actors, they could do a Harry Potter spinoff movie using only ghostly actors. Deceased people now include:

BOTH 'Headmaster' Albus Dumbledore's
Hagrid
Professor Severus Snape
The Sorting Hat
Garrick Ollivander, Magic Ward shop owner
Armando Dippet, the previous 'Headmaster' before Dumbledore
Kreacher, the house elf
Griphook, the house elf
Narcissa Malfoy
Marcus Belby
Cornelius Fudge, Minister for Magic
Barty Crouch, Sr.
The Bloody Baron
Uncle Dursley
Fenrir Greyback (the werewolf)
Bathilda Bagshot, a witch and author of “A History of Magic”
Tom from The Leaky Cauldron
The Fat Lady haunting the Gryffindor common room

reply

The Sorting Hat? Oh you mean the voice?

My favourite line: GRYFFINDOR!

reply

Yep, the voice of the Sorting Hat (Leslie Phillips) is now deceased as well.

The character is all CGI with no live action person on screen, so the voiceover actor being dead means that "Sorting Hat" is dead.

reply

I wouldn't say there's anything weird or creepy about this. Many of these actors were fairly elderly back in the 2000s.

reply

Yeah, but think about these two facts:

1 - The film series started roughly 20 years ago

2 - Many of these actors were already middle-aged or old when the film series started.

reply

Its getting like Superman, most of them are gone

reply

One of my all time favorite movies is "The Great Escape". Nearly all of the actors are dead. It's creepy.

reply

Another one for me is Star Trek II. just Shatner and a couple of the supporting players (chekov, sulu) are left. The rest are gone even Kirstie Alley!

reply

It's almost like these movies are cursed. Another creepy example is Gone With The Wind. Almost the entire cast is wiped out.

reply

Gone with the Wind is not surprising. The movie was made in 1939, unless they were children when it was made, they'd be well over 100 years old by now. Ditto why the entire cast of The Wizard of Oz is no longer with us.

But Harry Potter? Those films concluded in 2011!

reply

Sad, but we're talking 22-23 years since the first movie was released. It makes sense.

reply

This movie is 25 years old! Old people die. Or punished for "Satanism"!
