reply

JEREMY IRONS EATING CHEWING EVERY PIECE OF SCENERY TO THE POINT THAT HE ALMOST CONSUMES THE ENTIRE FILM IS PRETTY AWESOME...SNAILS ALMOST NEGATES IT WITH HIS RIDICULOUS STUPIDITY THOUGH.

reply

at least snails dies half way through.

reply

It’s dreadful in every way…yet I don’t hate it and have seen it several times. Weird.

reply

The Mr Ripley joke at the end always gets me.

reply

It's nowhere near as bad as "Rings of Power," just saying.

reply

Heh. I am watching it now after years of hearing how terrible it is. Honestly, it has some bright spots and is fairly entertaining. For a director's first film, I'd say it's nothing to be ashamed of.

reply

My brother liked it for a lot of reasons too. There is a novel version you can read too.

reply

oof. I just watched this for a bad movie podcast I like. Admittedly, this held my attention more than some of the turds the show does, but this is on the low end of bad.

reply

Thora Birch can only fantasize about getting roles this high profile today

reply

Last movie she did was on lifetime, so it seems she's taking what she can. Evidently, she's directing an Elmore Leonard book adaptation, so maybe that's her focus. Unfortunately, she hasn't aged particularly well, and that's tough on females in Hollywood.

reply

Going into the production side of things may actually put Birch on more solid footing long term than her GhostWorld co-star ScarJo. The latter's time on top 10 lists of World's Most Desireable Women is rapidly drawing to a close

reply

Happens to most women in Hollywood at her age, particularly after a kid. The late life hotties like Michelle Pfeiffer are the exception.

reply

Pfeiffer even experienced a significant downturn in her career by the late 90s

reply

Honestly, it works better with kids. They can't tell when there's bad acting or poorly done story-telling on this level. I'd say age 10-12 would be okay to watch this.

reply

That's fair, I'd probably have liked this as a kid. The new D&D was great!

reply

Bad according to the laws of film-making, but fun and therefore achieving the whole point of making movies in the first place - at least in part.

reply

As far as role-playing games go, Dungeons and Dragons is the best. As for movies, though, FORGET IT!!!
