The Silence of the Lambs (1991) vs Se7en (1995)

which is better?

Se7en

Both excellent films, but I'm going to go with Silence of the Lambs because the ending made me feel less terrible. Also, that final nightvision scene with Clarice and Buffalo Bill still gives me goosebumps.

reply

I like Se7en more, but both are very good...

Silence of the Lambs is a great film even though I hate serial killer films in general. Seven was good for one thing: Kevin Spacey's performance. Otherwise Brad Pitt is a terrible actor and the script was kind of dumb.

reply

How was the script dumb?

reply

While personally I think Pitt is a great actor I can understand why people may disagree, but the script being dumb? I just don't get where you're coming from there.

reply

Well not dumb, but not my type of script. I should say ridiculous. E.g. the killer's motive, the head in the box thing, etc. Contrived also.

reply

The script wasn't dumb at all, but yes Brad Pitt does really suck.

reply

I think Se7en is a much better film.

reply

Se7en

Both are among my favourites but the silence of the lambs is my all time favourite film, marginally better than seven I'd say.

reply

As a film, Se7en. Hands down. Not even debatable. Silence of the Lambs is a better story, but the directing is annoying.
