Tombstone or 3:10 to Yuma.....

Tombstone.....7.8
3:10......7.7

I think Tombstone is leaps and bounds above 3:10. Can't beat Val acting in his "prime."

reply

I personally thought 3:10 was a terrible movie. Tombstone was far and away a better movie.

Me too.

"3:10" was boring, imo. Comparing the two is like comparing a trip to 6 Flags to a trip to the dentist.

Tombstone deez bro. Both ratings are in the general ballpark for what these two movies deserve. I think an appropriate argument can be made about which is superior, but "leaps and bounds"? I don't think so.

reply

I have to agree with leaps and bounds. The only thing that might have been comparable would be some of the acting, but even for the good parts in 3:10, Tombstone is still superior.

Anyone know the reference?

Settle down Maverick

reply

Keke, you are a real fool. What a shame that is.

reply

I see we've resorted to name calling. It appears the truth strikes a chord.

Nice top gun signature... One would hope for a little more originality.

reply

Lol Isn't a quote by its very nature, never original? Don't think too hard friend...might hurt yourself.

reply

Of course, however the movie you chose to select that quote from is extremely mainstream. Don't be afraid to delve a bit deeper.

reply

Teach us, oh wise one.
If you're still out there.

reply

Isn't that what every argument is in its core?

reply

3:10 isn't terrible but Tombstone is above it.

reply

Tombstone

reply

3:10 is just garbage the remake that is. Its the one I saw.

Tombstone is a classic and probably the best cowboy movie ever.

reply

I enjoyed 3:10...it was ok
But Tombstone does seem destined for 'classic' status...however we may define that
This is one of those movies you dont turn off when you happen upon it
So many great lines, excellent performances from a top notch cast, violent shootout scenes...plus, Val Kilmer at his COOLEST.
I dont know enough about all of Western movie history to say if its the best but wow, this movie is a great example of popcorn fluff and perfect thrill ride
Loved it

Pretty sure Tombstone is a classic. It's going to be about 26 years since it premiered. It's on right now on AMC and I'm watching it like it was the first time.

You can say this movie is still in it's prime.

reply

I will check it out again real soon and probably for the 8th time it's so good

reply

Agreed. 3:10 was a decent movie but nothing more than that.

Tombstone is a classic already . . . it doesn't need to wait to achieve that status.

Honestly I can't even believe that this question was sincerely asked. Who would vote for 3:10?

reply

This remake of 3:10 was just awful.
Especially if you've seen the original.

In the original, Glenn Ford had so much charisma, Russel Crowe just had none.

reply

I'm a little surprised Tombstone is so much more popular than the newer 3:10.
(Apparently the Ford/Heflin version is not to be considered.)
Although as pointed out, the IMDb ratings are very close.
In Tombstone, the mustaches and such sort of put me off, and VK with his pasty complexion. Not saying I didn't enjoy the movie, but I didn't fall in love with it from the first scene.
And Crowe and Bale are pretty good actors, I enjoyed watching them dominate the screen.
I'm not claiming one is better - I'd have to give them both a good watch - but I didn't think Tombstone would win by a Landslide.

reply

Tombstone is based on a historical event, and the mustaches in Tombstone reflect the style at the time. All the guys had mustaches then, including Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday

reply

The original 3:10 maybe, not the remake
