Best performance?

If there were an Oscar for best performance in this movie, which of the cast would have won it? They all turn in stellar performances, so no one is out yet!

Jack Lemmon

You got a good polint there.

reply

Seconded.

I think I lean towards Ed Harris, but Alan Arkin is great too. Of course, Lemmon and Pacino, Spacey and Pryce, they all do great jobs. I really don't know. I think I would have to see specific clips for specific actors in competition with each other to begin to figure it out.

I think Lemmon was the most fleshed out character. They all had cracking dialogue, but Levine seemed to have a backstory (that transcended the mamet soundbites)

reply

That's true enough. I might agree he had the best written character.

Shelly's phone calls to his daughter are absolutely heartbreaking. Lemmon deserved an Oscar based on those calls alone.

reply

Lemmon was the best one.

reply

Pacino. Def not Arkin or Harris. Good, but not their best by a longshot and Arkin can be annoying. Lemon is the main character. Runner up.

I’ll have to go with Pacino as Roma. He’s so intense and gets that fire in his eyes. So good.

I actually really enjoyed Baldwin as Blake. Short time on screen but he delivered his speech and was so straight and to the point. He really came off as a pompous asshole and it was great.

reply

Lemmon wins by an inch, no more

reply

Haven't seen this in a few years but from memory...

Lemmon gets the Cadillac
Pacino the set of steak knives.
