The movie is too mature for young kids.

As an adult, I love this movie. However, if I ever had children, I wouldn’t let them watch it until they were in their teens. It’s way too dark, violent and brooding. The juvenile delinquency is graphic in its own way. But the most disturbing thing about the movie is how much profanity there is. That’s a definite no-no in a kids film, IMO.

You are really taking this to a level it's not at...

I saw this film when I was 6 years old, I turned out fine.

Parents weren't as concerned back then. Families watched Predator, Tim Burton's Batman, Total Recal, Commando, Rambo, and Tremors. Saw it at 8 years old. My brother's were 10 and 13. We loved it and our family bought it on VHS. There was no issue.

Frankly if I ever have kids I am getting rid of all the streaming services I have now and am having them watch only cartoons I grew up on a lot of which had serious issues brought up in themcompared to today's cartoons which are made so that only little kids can enjoy them.

Makes sense for a parent.

I know a lot of people are saying, "I saw it and turned out fine!" while missing the point about attempting to retain a child's innocence for as long as possible without them having to deal with the burdens of the brooding and darkness depicted in the film.

Upon reflection, I love the movie NOW more than I did when I was younger, and it was one of my favorite films when I was younger.

It's perfectly paced, well edited, and has the kind of brooding darkness that matched the Gothic tone of Tim Burton's 1989 Batman. There's a cinematic similarity between those films that make them feel timeless and very grounded in the moment. They aren't necessarily traits kids will grasp or understand at the time, but it's something savvy teens will likely appreciate beyond the action and comedy.

You just mad that this movie is better than Spider-Man so you decide to rationalize that its because TMNT takes shortcuts and cheap shots.
