I will never understand how anyone liked this show.

I really never understood the appeal.

reply

You're too young.

reply

Shit acting and cringey writing.

reply

Incredibly entertaining and trendsetting at the time.

reply

The show is too superficial. High school Brandon gets into a wreck while drunk, a major offense.

Ok, now this is getting interesting, how is Brandon going to cope with this setback? Here's what happens it shows him with a bike, that's all. By the next episode, it's like it never happened, Brandon has another car and is picking up his date at night. This lazy formula is repeated throughtout the series.

reply

That's only the case in the first season.

reply

Actually, the acting can be pretty good sometimes.

The writing on the other hand... yeah, you may have a point there.

reply

I'm a young person that started watching this show, and I see why people liked/like it. Literally lasted the whole decade, so it was decade defining.

reply

I was in my thirties when it was first being shown, and I never got the appeal. You might say I'm too old now, but was thirties too old, or was it a kids' show.

reply

Good looking teenagers doing teenage stuff, I don’t think it’s hard to understand why teenage people enjoyed that.

reply

I loooooved it!

reply

It was for popular kids only so don't worry about it.

reply

You mean the kids no one actually liked and just went with the crowd?

reply

The ones who got laid before prom indeed.

reply

You mean the ones who claimed to get laid.

reply

Thank you for sharing your story.

reply

I'm a survivor.

reply

I always like the theme song!

Actually, a great deal of shows' theme songs were pretty good. I was a kid in the 90s, and even those soap operas of the time had great theme songs.

reply

It's okay. At least it's memorable.

reply

It was indeed a $h!tty show, but if you watched it as if it were a bad comedy, it wasn't so bad. It was actually quite funny. Pretty people with problems. For example, Kelly was burned in a fire, shot, then she shot someone else, she was a drug addict, she was in a cult, she was a childhood model, she was in a love triangle with the two most popular guys in school, and she was a slut. Now, take into account that that is a VERY condensed summary of her problems, AND that that is only one character in a show that lasted ten years! I'm telling you, it's a goldmine of laughs if you approach watching it from the proper perspective.

reply

Maybe it would have worked as a Spanish soap opera.

reply

Aye caramba!

reply

Prime time soap opera, more of a chick flick type of tv show.
