Teenage Viewers

One thing that has puzzled me for years was the demographics of some of the people who watch this show. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself. Once in a long while, you'll see teenage girls watching this show. A silly drama about older women getting into all sorts of trouble, and yet some teen girls are watching it! I don't get it at all.

I only know because when I was in high school, I had a friend who watched it, and I'm thinking "Why on earth would you watch this? They're all old women!" I mean most teenage girls watch stuff that's current, right? I also saw a teen movie a short time ago called "To All the Boys I've Loved Before," and you have two of the girls in the story watching "Golden Girls" while having a slumber party. It surprised me a great deal.

Does anyone else find this odd?

i don't find it odd at all. i watched it at 5, 15, 25, and still going strong. in either my teens or early 20s, i remember hearing a stat that most GG viewers were black females under 25. i was a bit surprised initially, but hey, if the shoe fits!

I loved this show when I was a teen so it doesn't seem that odd to me. I also remember seeing the movie "to all the boys I've loved Before", and they were watching it. That I did find a little bit odd, just because you don't see any throwbacks to the show on tv ever. I'm sure the writer of the movie must have watched it at that age, so in that case it wouldn't be that odd.

I watched it when it was on tv and I was a kid, all the way until it ended when I was a teenager. I watched Empty Nest too. I still enjoy it.

I watched this show when I was 5 in 1990. And watched the reruns all throughout my life. I'm a fan of good shows...

While I don't think I watched this show as a teenager, I know I watched it with my mother as a pre-teen.
Of course, it is clear to me now that a lot of things went over my head back then.

What a bizarre notion: that you only watch movies and tv shows about people your own age. I suppose now that I'm old I should only watch shows about geezers. What an odd, narrow life it would be, to restrict yourself that way.
