Worst Tom Hanks movie ever?

I'd rather be forced to watch a 24 hour marathon of Larry Crowne than have to watch Bachelor Party again.

Are you kidding? This is one of my most favorite comedies from the 1980s, and it never gets old (except for that dated Japanese businessmen stereotype).

reply

Those kinds of scenes are absolute gold, purely because they enrage the PC-police and would never be allowed now. They’re highlights.

reply

These are the types of endorsements that makes me want to see a movie.

reply

What are you talking about, Grandpa?

The scenes with the Japanese guys would never enrage anyone today, because no one would get the joke. That "salaryman" stereotype was so played out and dated by the time this movie was made, you could see the liver spots and smell the Depends diapers from a mile away. I can't remember the last time that joke was actually timely and relevant. Oh, wait--The Taking of Pelham 1,2,3, which actually MADE FUN of how corny that stereotype already was in 1974. Literally, there's a whole scene where a group of middle aged Japanese guys are being given a tour by Walter Matthau and act like that stereotype. He starts to insults them in English (because he doesn't think they understand him). The punchline is that right after he ends the tour, one of them goes up to him and thanks him in perfect English.

Not that I'm complaining about your comment because if anything, I love it when I see stuff like this. What they do is confirm something I suspected for quite some time now, that people who complain about "PC Culture" are just old people who can't handle the fact that their comedy sensibilities are just dated.

Go cry about it, snowflake!

reply

Oh, no! Grandpa's gonna start crying about how PC Culture killed vaudeville now! Come around, kids! Listen to him talk about how you can't have pie fights, spin your bowtie anymore and do that "Slowly, I turn" routine anymore because of SJW cuck snowflakes that would get offended!

As a GenXer, I never thought my generation and older would be so lame as to bitch and moan about a younger generation not appreciating stale, dated humor that they grew up with. But to make up this delusional narrative that it's all about "snowflakes" getting offended, that makes it so much worse, IMO.

BTW, are you gonna keep using that millennialism/GenYism "snowflake" in a desperate attempt to sound young? Well, at least you're not buying a new sportscar and dressing half your age as you navigate through this apparent middle aged crisis that you're going through, so I guess it could be worse, LOL. 🤣

3 paragraphs? You're really having a meltdown over this.

reply

Your woke reaction is almost as funny as the Japanese stereotype scene itself 👏🏻🤣

🚨Fun Police!🚨

If you don't have a healthy sense of humor, this movie could be torture.

reply

A VHS copy of this movie is a must for any estate/garage sale.

I hate to tell someone their opinion is wrong, but your opinion is wrong.

I haven't seen Bachelor Party but I refuse to believe that it is worse than The Man with One Red Shoe.

One of his worst films in my opinion. This one along with Joe vs the Volcano and Dragnet.
