Am I the only one who's never seen the 1st Star Wars?

🤣

I'm more a "Star Trek" type of guy.

reply

No, one of my friends where I used to work, she is in her early 30's and has not seen any of the star wars films.

reply

Depends on how old you are. If you're in your 40s or 50s or older and you haven't seen it, then that's sacrilege. An abomination. But if you're in your 30s or younger, then that's not too surprising then.

reply

Well I've committed sacrilege then. I've seen parts. But I've never watched the whole film straight through. I think I'm just a bit of a trekkie snob.

reply

Yeah, one day I'll smoke a joint, knock down a few beers, and try and watch it. 🤣

reply

Oh, SHUT THE FUCK UP, April-151-CT!!! WHO the hell do you think you are to insult wise people like that!?!

reply

I have a friend who is in her 40s and had never seen them. She watched this, didn't like it cause it was too slow paced for her, and refused to watch the rest. She said she only wants to watch modern movies cause old ones are too slow paced. She even feels this way about 80s Action movies.

reply

It's a great movie. If you're a fan of movies, you should watch this at least once in your lifetime.

Star Trek is certainly more realistic in many ways but SW is more fun.

reply

Yes, you and the people in North Korea are the only ones who never seen this

reply

What about Jaws, was that never your scene?

reply

I was a kid when Jaws came out of course. Yeah, at the time it was great.

reply

If you’re wondering why I asked you about a random movie, it's a lyric from a Queen Song. 😁

reply

Oh. Lol. I recently trashed "Jaws" on the "Jaws" board. I thought you were being snarky, like I don't like great movies. 🤣

reply

Jaws was never my scene
And I don't like Star Wars

Damn, that's uncanny. I'm not the only one.

I recently dissed both "Star Wars" and "Jaws".

reply

Aha I wasn't aware of that post.

I used to sing that lyric in my childhood but was perplexed by it because I loved Star Wars, these days I can sing it because I don’t like Disney Star Wars. LOL

reply

Yeah, the whole thing is kinda uncanny. Only on MovieChat! 🤣

Actually, I might like "Star Wars" if I actually ever see it!

reply

I thought about this the other day, that there must be loads of Star Wars fans out there who have never yet watched the original trilogy, thanks to all the latter TV shows and films.

It’s the same for Star Trek, plenty of younger fans could love Trek without ever watching or caring to view classic Trek or The Next Generation.

reply

True, there's entire extended franchises on these films.

reply

I HATED Jaws, I thought it was BORING.

reply

Star Wars is more space fantasy than science fiction.

reply

+1

reply

I'm not a fan of how they turned it into a Space Opera.

reply

How so a "Space Opera"?

reply

Unrelated characters suddenly being family out of nowhere. The usual Soap Opera stuff. The original movie was a straightforward science fiction space fantasy drama adventure. But don't get me wrong I do love part 2 and part 3 was okay, but too much of the Space Opera stuff. Then the Space Opera stuff got upper 10 fold when the prequels came out.

reply

You say you're not a fan of the space opera stuff, yet you, just above, called someone and abomination and called them sacrilegious for never having watched fucking Star Wars in the first fucking place, so what does that make you? WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!?! STAR WARS is SHIT!!

reply

I see. You meant it in the sense of a soap opera. Less of the sci-fi creativity, more interpersonal.

reply

Yes. A space soap opera.

reply

Hmmm. I just looked it up. I didn't know it was a common term.

reply

There is one other. He lives deep in the Himalayas. He prepares for Ragnorak.

reply

🤣

reply

If you watch the OT, which I recommend, watch the Lucasified Special Editions first. They're easier to obtain and I want to see someone's impression of the films without being pissed off about the changes Lucas made.

reply

What kind of changes did he make?

reply

Added CGI, changed songs, what happens in scenes, etc. The only way to watch the unaltered versions is a bootleg torrent, or old out of print media (DVD, VHS).
