Jaws or Jurassic Park?

As far as sheer fear factor? If that's the question, Jaws, hands down.

Jurassic Park was a great, extremely entertaining matinee type of film. Jaws made several generations afraid to swim in the ocean, even some dedicated surfers/swimmers.

reply

OMG, why are you even alive for asking that question

reply

I lot of people nowadays prefer "Jurassic Park" over "Jaws."

PARK is an adventour film for family.

Jaws is horror

reply

Not only is Jaws horror, but it's realistic. People actually do get attacked by sharks and sharks close to 25 feet in length have been observed. It could happen to you. JP is pure fantasy, and while occasionally scary doesn't generate anything remotely close to the frightening dread that Jaws did. I'll be surprised if I see another film in my lifetime that terrifies audiences the way that Jaws did (so I've read and have been told, anyway). My understanding is that The Exorcist chilled audiences to the bone similarly. As absurd as that story was, it preyed on our fears of the eternal and the dark realms within it that a great many believe to exist.

Jaws is the scary one but I like Jurassic Park more as a movie. Which is not to imply Jaws isn't great; Jurassic Park is just one of my favorite movies.

jaws at jurassic park?

reply

I must say that if you only consider the first movie of each, I will go with Jaws.

If you consider the sequels, at least the Jurrasic Park series managed to do descent sequels (not all... The forth one we just don't talk about it) something Jaws totally failed at.

reply

It's because Jaws should only have been a "one off". That's how I feel in my eyes.

reply

Jaws, easily

reply

Jaws. JP is good for child fun, but Jaws is an adult film.

reply

Exactly, and anyway, Jaws is on a par with Psycho, The Godfather, Double Indemnity, and other MATURE films. JP
doesn't even belong in the same sentence. Pure '90's popcorn stuff, with superb CGI.
