A lot of homes back then had just one bathroom, though.

A LOT of homes NOW have one bathroom.

I grew up in fifteen different houses in the 1950s and 1960s, in California and Utah, and only one of them had two bathrooms.

I grew up in a 1100 sq foot ranch with 5 siblings and two parents in the 1960s, and that was a one-hole house. Strange I don't recall many problems with scheduling.

My first house was a triplex and that was a two-holer!! Next house was a raised ranch and that was configured for two, but only had the main bath. The master bath was a walk-in closet. We didn't stay long or I would have added another toidy. Third house in the burbs is a three-holer. That's living folks...

We grew up in a 1200 sq ft rambler (AKA as a ranch) with one bathroom and six kids. It can be done. You learn bathroom etiquette such as asking if anyone needs the bathroom before you shower/bathe. My three children and I had only one bathroom for most of their growing up years, too. You manage. It wasn't until my dad moved in with us during his final, declining months that we added a second bath that was tricked out with grab bars, etc. for him.

We've always had 4 bathrooms.

According to S8 E21, the house has 1.5 baths

THE HALF WAS A BUCKET IN THE BROOM CLOSET.

Funnily enough my Grandparents on both my mom's and dad's side of the family had only one bathroom in their houses my entire childhood. Though about 10 years ago when I was in my 20s, my Grandparents on my mom's side built an extra room and an extra bathroom onto their house. I have only my Grandma on my mom's side left alive now but she has dimensia and can't remember who I am.

My dad told me that his grandfather, who was born in the 1860s, always lived in a house with a privy (outhouse). In the 1930s, when somebody suggested that he add a modern indoor bathroom, he indignantly replied "I'll be damned if I'll have people shitting inside my house!"

Lol!
