DeSantis to veto bill to help pay Trump legal bills.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2024/01/22/desantis-trump-patronis-legal-fees/

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) may have endorsed Donald Trump as the Republican Party’s presidential nominee — but he appears ready to use his veto pen to squash a proposal to help pay the candidate’s mounting legal fees.

Jimmy Patronis, the state’s chief financial officer and a member of the governor’s Cabinet, has promoted a bill to create a “Freedom Fighters Fund” that would provide up to $5 million in “financial support to Florida residents running for President who face legal, partisan, political attacks by the Department of Justice or State Attorneys.”

“It’s in Florida’s best interest to make sure their champion for the President is allowed a fair shot at the White House without being taken down by some fake witch hunt,” Patronis said Monday.

But DeSantis’s campaign account on X, the site formerly known Twitter, quickly chimed in, sharing a story from Politico with the headline, “Some Florida Republicans want taxpayers to pay Trump’s legal bills,” and making his position clear.

“But not the Florida Republican who wields the veto pen,” he quipped.

You know you're in a cult when you want tax payer money to be used to pay the legal bills of your favorite billionaire.

reply

You know you're in a cult when your idols pay the legal bills of antifa rioters who murdered, looted, raped and did billions of dollars in damage.

reply

Yeah, that sounds a lot worse than wanting to defend Trump from the attempts of the left to arrest their political opposition.

I mean, i can see why desantis would not support such a bill, but it is not an unreasonable idea.

reply

So if a person is suspected of committing a crime, you think they should immune from prosecution until they're no longer running for office? Why would this ever make any kind of sense to you?

It is republicans who are trying to take Trump off of the ballot in some states. Trump is a proven loser, the GOP needs someone who can win this time. https://www.businessinsider.com/republicans-gop-voters-lawsuit-disqualifying-trump-colorado-ballot-supreme-court-2023-12?op=1

reply

I think that trying to avoid a free and fair election by spamming politically motivated accusations and prosecutions at a candidate,

is morally and legally and constitutionally wrong.

Those that do it, are bad people that should be investigated and arrested for their crimes.

reply

Which of the indictments were politically motivated?

The NY business fraud indictments; Trump's fraud is literally in writing. Who is stupid enough to claim the wrong size of a property for tax purposes? Trump is.

Trump kept classified documents were was not allowed to have. Most others give them back when the government demands, like Pence did. The rest are prosecuted, especially those who refuse to return them when requested.

As president, Trump encouraged the rioters and refused to secure the capitol as he could do as president. It seems Trump decided to be a doormat instead of the president that day.

reply

All of them. They are all part of a pattern, perhaps even an organized plan, to interfer in the election.

reply

When is lying about your businesses worth acceptable to you? When it only violates NY law?

So Trump's plans election interference was not intended to interfere with the election?

Do you really think people have the right to just retain classified information and refuse to give it back? What kind of chaotic security for this country do you want?

I had a security clearance for 40 years. It never occurred to be to be "Trump stupid" and think I could just keep it forever.

reply

It is a violation of, at least, the equal protection clause and abuse of power.

It is irelevant whether any of the politically motivated investigation managed to stumble across any actuall issues.

The investigations are all politically motivated. If Trump was not a political opposition leader, none of these investigations would be happening. Thus, none of them are legitimate.

If Trump or any republican wins, there should be a massive investigation into ALL of those people involved, with many of them facing serious jail time for their crimes.

reply

The investigations are all politically motivated. If Trump was not a political opposition leader, none of these investigations would be happening. Thus, none of them are legitimate.

Prove that.

reply

lol. Fuck off.

reply

Your response is noted and dismissed. You have nothing. You are a scumbag.

reply

No, I'm not. I'm a nice guy and people like me.

In the real world, the hysterical and ever growing reaction from you people to Trump, has been seen. For you to demand proof at this point...

Not to mention, I know, EVERYONE KNOWS, that you would not judge any point(s) I made in good faith. You would dismiss them all, no matter how compelling.

YOU are the scumbag here.

reply

Lol again just an excuse to not prove your claim. If you could prove that you would have done it. It is your opinion all these charges are politically motivated nothing more. If they were going after a liberal like this you would not say a word.

reply

The evidence is spotty or circumstantial, thus you would have a small "leg" to stand on, to justify dismissing it.

Meanwhile in the real world, we can see you. We remember how you people talked about "resist" and "Be ungovernorable" and how the Deep State already did shit like give hillary a pass or generated the Steele Dossier, ECT. ECT. ECT.

So, the idea that we would trust that you are operating in good faith and using the power of your offices as they should be, when we have seen SO MUCH of you NOT doing that,

is fucking retarded.

reply

Yet you did not even provide that. What does that say about your stance?

Since you will look past the corruption of Trump we will look past the corruption on our end? How does that sound?

reply

i want to know who organized the fbi, teh cia, big tech, and the MSM to cover up the hunter biden laptop.

That level of unconstitutional power, is a serious threat to our democracy.

AND, i want all those organizations, and the rest of hte goverment, and more PURGED of the type of marxist drones that make that possible.

reply

I do not care about what you want. What you want and what you get in life are two different things now aren't they? My point stands you never proved that all the charges against your deity were political. What you can assert without evidence I can dismiss without evidence.

reply

Fuck you. Your side's political abuse of power has been clear for years.

reply

So has yours. No side is innocent like you think.

reply

So are all fraud, theft of classified material, and election interference charges politically motivated? Or just those indictments involving Trump?

Surely you understand that Trump is not the first person to be indicted for election interference, business fraud or mishandling classified material. Why should Trump be immune and not everyone else?

So there are no investigations now? If there was no investigation, then how did the indictments happen?

reply

My point was clear. You people are... determined to stop or at least weaken Trump politically. For political reasons.

Thus the investigations and prosecutions are not being done in good faith, bases on law, nor are his rights being respected.

AND, the rights of all of his supporters AND even potential supporters are also being violated becuase their right to a free and fair election is being denied.

Your question of "all fraud..." is just you trying to dodge my point, by playing dumb. Stop that. Have some self respect.

reply

You mean Trump's right to keep classified information he was not allowed to have? Explain that one.

Why do you think Trump is entitled to violate the law.

My question of "all fraud" is aimed at your stupid suggestion that Trump is entitled to violate the law and is immune from prosecution because he is Trump.

Trump is one of those who is trying to violate our rights to a fair and free election. That is the reason for one of the indictments.

reply

You are just playing stupid to avoid the point.

It is like an unlawful search of a car by a wacist cop. Anything found is not addmissible.

Same principle. So drop the retard act.

reply

If you're not mentally incompetent, then why are you unable to make any reasonable replies to my posts?

reply

My reply was reasonable. YOU are the one playing dumb.

If you succeed in arresting your political opposition, and thus avoiding a free and fair election,

what recourse to you allow to your political opponents then?

reply

You really don't understand how that works? Who are the two top contenders for the GOP nomination? Trump and Haley perhaps?

Let's say Biden has the top two GOP contenders arrested and "disappeared" and brags he has immunity. What will the GOP do? Lay down and play dead or nominate someone else who has not been arrested?

Will there be an election? Yes. Will it be fair? Of course not.

Trump the wanna-be dictator would like to arrest his opposition because they offended him in some manner. Is that what you want?

reply

Hilarious. YOu call Trump a "want a be dictator", yet you support Biden who is actually trying to arrest his political opponent.

reply

Trump says he wants to be a dictator. You calling Trump a liar?

I do not support Biden? Why not quote me where I said I support Biden? You can't, so you lie instead. Good look for you though.

Opposing Trump is not the same as supporting anyone else.

reply

He was clearly talking about being aggressive day one.

You attack Trump on false grounds, while ignoring Biden's actual authortairanism.

reply

Trump really likes the people who are so stupid that they think he will only be dictator for a day. I attack Trump based on his claims. You support Trump because you like the smell of his feces.

reply

Nope. I support Trump because he is on my side, and your side hates me with a fiery passion.

Trump was clearly discussing how aggressive he plans to be, one day one. Your shit talk is just shit talk.

reply

It seems that you like Trump because he hates the same people that you do. You know who they are. POW's, gun owners, women, Fred Trump Jr's family, the disabled, Mexicans, Jews, etc.

My side is truth and justice. The opposite of you and Trump.

reply

LOL.

Your need to disrespect my political beliefs by dismissing them as "hate" is you being an asshole, and being too cowaardly to be serious.

Trump was clearly disccussing how aggressive he plans to be on day one. Your panic mongering about "dictator" is just shit talk.

reply

Not at all. Those are my true feelings on the matter.

I was using Trump's words. Get over it or use another forum perhaps.

reply

Your need to disrespect my political beliefs by dismissing them as "hate" is you being an asshole. And being too cowardly to be serious.

Sure, Trump said those words. He was clearly using normal hyperbole to make a point about how aggressive he will be in pursuing his agenda, once elected.

The way that you pretend to have not noticed that he is a big user of hyperbole, after all these years, is you being a dishonest asshole.

reply

Why is the stupid stuff Trump says always hyperbole? Why can't you hold Trump accountable for the stupid crap he says?

I notice that Trump lies as a matter of habit. You excuse it as hyperbole instead of holding him accountable.

reply

Trump's been in the public spotlight, for like NINE YEARS NOW.

For you at this late date, to pretend to have not noticed that he is a talks "big" or "hugely",

is simply not credible.

When you use dishonest tactics like this, you are revealing that you, YOU, not me, believe that the TRUTH is on TRUMP'S side, not yours.

You might not be able to face this yourself. But your actions show that that is what you actually believe.

Why are you still on the side that YOU believe to be wrong?

reply

You say talk big.

I say he lies because he knows that people like you are stupid enough to believe him.

reply

I don't believe that he will be a "dictator" on day one, and neither do you.

Yet, you are PRETNDING to believe it, becuase it gives you an excuse to talk shit about him and his supporters, while avoiding any discussion of substance.

Like your real reason for opposing him and his supporters.

reply

Obvious conclusion:
he is mentally incompetent.

reply

The only pattern is Drumpf continuously breaking the law and the pattern of it being excused or ignored is at an end.

reply

No, the pattern is that anyone that is a problem for the lefty agenda, gets slammed with allegations, investigations and lawsuits, often completely made up.

Hey, remembe when you lefties claimed to have proof Trump was a russian agent? LOL. What ever happened to that?

reply

Which of your idols are doing this?

reply

They're your idols, leftist.

reply

You know you're in a cult when your idols pay the legal bills of antifa rioters who murdered, looted, raped and did billions of dollars in damage.

Not at all. I make it a point to never ever say anything nice about any politician. Why do you think I have any idols?

You're the one who claims to know things about your idols. Why are you claiming no knowledge of them when someone calls you on it?

reply

Are you for real? If so, I wasn't talking about my idols.

reply

You brought up idols in this thread. I think your accusation is a confession. For real.

reply

Wow. That doesn't even dignify a response.

reply

5 million taken from schools, hospitals, shelters, to prop up a twice popular vote loser, a twice impeached president, a man facing prison...are they for real?

reply

It's bad enough that tRump is swindling his supporters by using campaign funds to pay his legal bills. This from a guy who claims to be a multi-billionaire.

reply

I can't even believe this, using taxpayer money to defend a criminal insurgent ?
The Florida gone insane, or is it just the whole country.
F, F, and triple F, GDit!

reply

Good. Make Trump handle his own legal bills.
