Demi Lovato re-adopts she/her pronouns because they/them pronouns were "exhausting"

From the article in the Independent:

In 2021, the American musician announced they are non-binary and would be using they/them pronouns. Last year, they decided to also use she/her pronouns to avoid having to constantly explain herself.

“I constantly had to educate people and explain why I identified with those pronouns. It was absolutely exhausting,” said Lovato, 30. “I just got tired. But for that very reason I know that it is important to continue spreading the word."

And I am being kinda serious, are we supposed to call an individual "they" or "them". If so, that is the dumbest thing ever.

"They/them" has always* been used in English for non-gendered objects. "I went to the store and they were out of frozen pizza" is an example. "It" also works in that context, I'm just saying that it's common to use "they/them" for singular nouns when the noun is a thing. Only recently has this been extended to people who don't identify with any gender. It's preferable to referring to someone as "it".

*At least for Modern English. Don't know about older English.

I would hate being called "it" that must suck pretty hard for trans people.

But I suppose what you're saying is you refer to a group of trans people as "they" but what about an individual? You can't exactly say "them" or "they" when talking about one person... right? You have to say "him" or "her" or "she" or "he" to narrow it down to one.
