He should go to work on countries where cancel culture has less power

Like France,Germany,Italy,or Japan (imagine a Joss Whedon manga or anime!) but sadly i dont think he will do that. In his works he is very "american-centered" with the only exception of England. But England has a big cancel culture too so he cant go to work there. Too bad, because in most of Europe or Japan,he would still be considered great and would have a big audience,so many channels would want to work with him!

True

Most other countries don't have much of a film industry.

reply

With that ego? And the fact that he would demand they bend to his will? I'd like to see that go over well in a foreign country's film industry.

reply

Screw him. He's the worst.

He's the type of faux-feminist/faux-leftist who is at the front of the queue to cancel *everyone else* until we all discover that he's *worse* than the people he's trying to cancel.

reply

He is a leftie, yes, but i dont remember him trying to cancel anyone

reply

He strikes me as the type...

Do you all remember when he mocked Nicole Kidman, and physically compared her to Lady Penelope from Thunderbirds, simply because she said, in answer to a question about Trump, about a week before his inaugeration, "Let's give his Presidency a chance [before judging]"? I despise Trump with a passion, and his Presidency was as bad, maybe worse, than many of us predicted, BUT she wasn't wrong to say what she did at that moment in time. There was nothing else anyone could do about his Presidency, and it *was* right to 'wait and see', as she suggested (and my suspicion is that she wasn't endorsing Trump so much as trying to avoid getting bogged down in a political question). Anyway, 'feminist' and 'leftist', Joss Whedon exposed his misogynist ass, a good few years before Ray Fisher, Gal Gadot, Charisma Carpenter, and the rest of the Buffy cast called him out, when he needlessly mocked Kidman.

reply

Nicole was so right about that

reply

thats a whloe lotta words to explain what "Let's give his Presidency a chance" means
and none to actually say what whendon's response was.

reply

$$$$

He likes a lot of it this is why fair amount of his shows ended.

The likes of Angel & Buffy could have continued but he wanted more $$$ and the network would not give it.

Firefly was the same and the movie almost didn't happen because again he wanted a fairly large budget.

No other country will pay out big money.

reply

Thats true,no other countries can spend America's money,by the way i think that the fact that he wants money for his projects its because he is ambitious.

reply

budget was 39 million USD

Pretty tiny for a sci fi epic like that one , and a fantastic movie to boot , presumably because written and directed by Whedon.

reply

That was a fairly large budget.

Remember this was back in 2005 and in some ways a TV movie being put on big screen.

Whedon himself was surprised he managed to get such a large budget from Universal but it could have been even cheaper but he refused to shoot abroad.

Box office was awful for it no wonder no one wanted to touch it.

You’re fine if your female relatives get treated by their boss the way Joss treated his ex-wife, and co-statd?
