Question For Trump Fans. Even Trump...

Even Trump supporters think Jared Kushner is a douche bag, right?...

reply

Kushner is Trump's tool to smear the left as Antisemitic.

reply

I'm surprised Kushner isn't smarter than to support Trump. He must really be an idiot!

reply

Have you ever read Richard III? I used to wonder why the people would turn themselves wrong side out for the man's attention when they all knew he was something you wipe off the bottom of your shoe. We read it in 7th grade, so I hadn't even been down to the end of my street, let alone around the block. The teacher said they all wanted to be at the center of power, and he was the center of power.

That was decades ago, and I haven't really understood what she meant until now. You may call someone who's power hungry and idiot, but it's the motivation behind people that in many cases I thought had more sense, sucking up to this guy. And, of course, Kushner is fam, so he's going to glad hand the father-in-law, anyway if he's interested in the family money.

reply

Nice R3 reference, it's a well made point.

Kushner though comes from a billionaire family in his own right who were hardcore lifelong Democrats. It was Ivanka who agreed to convert to Orthodox Judaism upon marriage. In case you're not familiar, this is no small feat. It ain't easy to become a Jew. But family is family and he did choose to marry a Trump, presumably the monetary angle of combined fortunes was considered and a significant reason why both families gave their blessing so long as Ivanka agreed to convert.

Plus, Trump hadn't gone full GOP birther until after their marriage.

reply

I think the term "beard" still applies here even though it's about ethnicity and not sexual preference.

reply

Well...Jared makes an excellent beard for Ivanka and Daddy

reply

That’s what I say.

reply

Lol thats so messed up.

reply

I’m not condoning it!

reply

And T-rump is not condemning it, either! LOL

reply

I'm not a fan of Kushner, no.

I'm not really a fan of the government as a whole, honestly. I only chose a side because progressives more or less forced everyone to. I have no real home politically. I used to consider myself a classic liberal of the late 90's, but apparently that is now an outdated mindset. Liberals and progressives have gone so far left some are about to spill over the graph. Republicans haven't veered much since the 80s and appear to be the sane party now, but they're still republicans...so I can't fully trust them.

The government isn't really on the people's side...it's just that the democrats have really honed in on their pandering strategy, and it has brought them to the brink of communism with propaganda fueled mobs carrying out the mission. It's quite terrifying actually.

reply

Republicans can't fully trust them, either. The folks who swear they can don't know what conservatism is supposed to be like.

reply

You're posting meaningless gibberish like usual, troll.

Except for this: "The government isn't really on the people's side"

reply

Thanks for proving my point, you dehumanizing piece of scum.

What happened is liberalism became cool and hip. Obama took the blame for the rise of the neoliberalism but the reality is Bush's war on terror made it acceptable. Because Obama's 2004 speech was very anti Iraq War in a sea of pro Iraq War terrain the neolibs hailed him as their king near the end of 2007. Then Obama kinda turned into a corporate puppet extending Bush's tax cuts, crossing into republican lite territory by supporting the Patriot Act and increasing drone strikes. Unfortunately that is when the republican establishment went full retard by declaring him a socialist simply because he offered medical care for preexisting conditions. You never go full retard because thats when someone like Trump can wipe out an entire field of your establishment candidates.

So its really the republicans that have changed. They went from extreme pro war to "idk I guess its bad" to "no its not" to "yes it is because Hillary." Whereas the DNC is still in Obama territory trying to extend his presidency. If you want liberalism of the 90s then you need Bernie but unfortunately that requires a willingness to admit the 90s tax code was superior to today's and I think you are too deep in Trumpland to ever admit Trump's tax cuts (or Bush's) are screwing you over no matter how much debt we incur.

reply

You're getting screwed regardless. Thats 90s politics. Trust no government.

Actually it is Democrats who have gone far left. The economist research graph shows this.

reply

Thats a misunderstanding. The democrats haven't gone far left. The far left has become more numerous because the whole population has gone left.

Case in point. Bernie Sanders is not just resonating with leftists. He's resonating with ideological centrists and even some moderate republicans.

Trump is another example of the country moving left. The reason he resonates with some leftists is because they realize he has was to the left of the old school republican establishment. That is why he has historically identified as a democrat. But he knew that running as a republican had a shortcut which was to cater to the religious fundies and Infowars/qAnon conspiracy junkies.
