What are some

Of his good lesser known movies?

On The Edge

I would think all of his movies are lesser known movies.
Like Keir Dullea in 2001, Bruce in Silent Running is a career making moment.
And it's not a very big movie.

reply

Agree-- "silent running" is an incredibly touching film and he is great in it.

The Wild Angels: a great 60s biker drama
The Cowboys. : Bruce is an old west psycho and the only character to ever kill John Wayne

He's really good in Michael Ritchie's "Smile" from '75, a satire on beauty pageants. It's still up on Prime Video (August 2019) and is well worth watching.

These are well known Bruce Dern films to those who know them but otherwise lesser known, presented here in reverse chronological order:

The Driver
The Laughing Policeman
Hang 'em High

Is The Burbs lesser known?

He was the best part of that flick.

reply

I think The Burbs is considered fairly successful but man, it's on the fringe isn't it?

reply

It's on the very bottom end of cult classic status. Known about but still largely unseen.

reply

I agree with this.

Should have been bigger considering Gremlins' success.

reply

I thought that he was terrific in "Nebraska. "

Diggstown (1992) - Bruce Dern, Lou Gossett Jr., James Woods.
- Lou Gossett is a boxer who is working with James Woods (a huckster) to win ten fights in 24 hours in a corrupt town run by Bruce Dern.
