If The Wrestler was Mickey Rourke’s comeback, why hasn’t he done any other significant movies since?

Hard to work with and he's propably kind of a dickhead. He also ruined his looks so I'd imagine it's hard to cast him in anything serious. He was great when he was younger.
shareMickey Rourke is not relevant. In 2022 very few would pay to see a Mickey Rourke film. He had his time in the starlight. His career has come and gone.
shareI would say that his roles in the Sin City series, and Iron Man 2 were significant…but I would guess that he isn’t the most easy actor to work with, or maybe he really isn’t hobnobbing for work.
I think that if he REALLY wanted to work, he wouldn’t have a problem finding a role. I mean, he obviously has heavy-hitter connections, so I think he’s probably consumed by something else at the moment.
Probably same thing as Katherine Heigl. Some people are not interested in or capable of playing the Hollywood politics the right way

From what I remember with him in interviews it was Iron Man 2 that burned him again. He did a lot of work on that character and went all out for it but they cut alot of his footage out. I mean.. people are so sensitive these days I would say a pissed off and angry Mickey Rourke would intimidate them. He didnt want to play nice with Marvel and that was probably the last straw for a lot of these younger directors. Hollywood is also full of egos. Someone like Downy is not going to want Rourke out acting him in his own vehicle. It was probably a bad move for Mickey to take such a commercial type role. He really should have stuck to smaller projects where the creator had more control.

shareMickey came from the streets. His stepfather beet the crap out of him and his mother every day. He became a boxer. After an injury he needed time to heal for a WHILE and a friend asked him to fill in for the lead in a play. Mickey had never acted and said why not. He went on to become one of the finest actors of all times but still didnt like acting that much. Went back to boxing as a professional, took more beatings, and then back to acting. The guys never had an easy day in his whole life. Hes tough as nails though because he fought A LOT. His interviews are extremely honest and he doesnt really hide much.
These days he doesnt have a lot and doesnt look anything like himself anymore. Almost Michael Jackson level. Its a miracle hes not in prison or hasnt killed himself IMO. Tormented and damaged person from very early on. Incredible actor though especially in the 80s to early 90s. Makes most actors look average.. Deniro included. Deniro went pretty out of his way to bash Mickey after Angel Heart. Rourke was difficult to work with sometimes but that can be said for almost any actor. Cimeno and Parker sure liked him and those guys were VERY bullish so I always suspected Mickey being difficult was largely fabricated BS just to try and shut him down. Stallone, Rodriguez, Miller, and Aronofsky also liked Rourke. De Niro just a petty vindictive jerk because he he saw what Mickey was capable of on Angel Heart. Mickey basically turned the scenes into acting competitions and freaked out Deniro. Parker has talked about it in a few interviews. He said he had never seen anything that good come out of an actor.
