What the Hell Happened to Linda Fiorentino?

https://lebeauleblog.com/2014/01/04/what-the-hell-happened-to-linda-fiorentino/

Linda Fiorentino was a rising star and a major sex symbol in the mid-nineties. She scored critical acclaim with her role as a femme fatale in the neo noir film, The Last Seduction. Then she achieved mainstream success in the sci-fi comedy blockbuster, Men in Black. A few short years later amid rumors of difficult behavior, Fiorentino’s career had cooled to the point where she essentially retired.

What the hell happened?

I've read a lot about her being difficult to work with, however...

Her success came kind of late and a lot of it was based on her being very sexy. I just watched her in "Where the Money is", from 2000, which was another femme fatale type role. She was 42 when she made that and was still smoking hot, but, it was pretty unrealistic to think she'd keep getting roles like that into her 40s. She never really caught on more broadly and there really aren't a surplus of good roles for women, in general. I couldn't see her moving on to play "grandma" roles.

Kevin Smith badmouthed her a lot, but he has a reputation for being a real jerk too, so I wouldn't believe anything he says.

"he has a reputation for being a real jerk"

That's news to me. I do think he is overrated.

reply

Kevin Smith is known for being kind and easy going, nothing remotely like a "reputation" for being a jerk. you're just making shit up.

Although she's great, and I love her in the Last Seduction, do we really need two Parker Posies?

reply

She was grossly overrated in terms of looks anyway and was a mediocre actress so she was easily replaceable as there was really nothing that could save her from her crappy attitude.

reply

She was beyond sexy in The Last Seduction.

I thought Linda Fiorentino was sexy throughout the 1990s and ongoing. I feel she was strong in that capacity in films such as "Gotha!" and "Vision Quest" as well, but I just think she REALLY came into her own in the 90s. I also feel that she's a very good actress.

The demise of Linda Fiorentino's career

This actress was frequently spotted in high-profile Hollywood productions in the 1990s, but she vanished from view in the early 2000s. Linda Fiorentino retired, why? What the Hell Happened to Linda Fiorentino? I want to look back on Linda Fiorentino's career in this video. The Last Seduction, Jade, Beyond the Law, after hours, Men in black, Dogma, Liberty Stands Still.

After reading all these comments and rumors, the question should now be “who is going to play Linda Fiorentino in the movie about Linda Fiorentino?”

reply

You know that's a good question. I'm starting to think of her the same way I thought of Bridget Fonda. Bridget, just like Linda, was red hot in the 1990s - then faded away in the early 2000s, then pretty much disappeared. By around 2017 I started thinking - "I wonder what happened to Bridget Fonda?". Bridget did in fact resurface, shockingly I might add. I thought 2022 pics of her were bogus, but they were confirmed in 2023. I wonder if any new pics of Linda will surface - and I wonder what she looks like now. The current Bridget was a shock - no offense to her.

' I'm starting to think of her the same way I thought of Bridget Fonda.'

I know exactly what you mean.
