WHOA ... James Cameron is going to make a Terminator sequel !!!!

Just read on the New York Times that James Cameron is going to
make a sequel to Terminator starring Linda Hamilton.

Wow, this sounds like such a great idea, and an intelligent writer,
director to do it. The rest of the Terminator sequels have been so
awfully bad I have to think this is going to be great.

Can't wait.

People were saying the exact same thing when Ridley Scott was coming back to the Alien franchise. Do not get your hopes up.

reply

Cameron just said it to the New York Times.

reply

I was talking about the quality of the movie being good

reply

Prometheus was amazing, too bad it got trashed by all the kids that just wanted a generic bloody Alien movie.

reply

Prometheus was not bad. Covenant was awful

reply

Covenant was indeed awful, and I believe it was intentional. It seemed like a big middle finger to Fox.

reply

I know it seemed intentionally bad, almost as if Scott wanted people who hated Prometheus to appreciate it more.

reply

As for the topic, even though I liked T3 and even Genisys, can't wait for a new Cameron-helmed movie. He must have something special in mind to even consider this.

And as for Alien, too bad he hasn't come back around to deciding on Alien 5. I know he and Ridley were working on that together before Ridley shifted onto Prometheus instead... And Cameron of course was too busy with Avatar movies anyway.

reply

How did that turn out for you?! lol

reply

lol

I'm glad those people brought up Scott's screw up of the Alien franchise -

Jeez fuck, I really hope this covid 19 clears out the lot of the old geezers - and let younger people do some good in this world.
Trump/Biden/Scott/Cameron/Spielberg - They should all be retired, yet they are still at the top of the food chain, despite having only a few functioning brain cells left. It's as if they read King Lear and figured once they retire, they'll be killed in their sleep, so the only way to stay alive is to keep hold of power and push down anyone younger with better ideas.

Love old threads like these.

reply

Goddamn it for a second I thought Cameron had announced he was going to direct T7.. then saw the OP was 3y ago

reply

lol same here. I was like whoa. It got so bad Cameron is stepping in himself to fix things. Oh...

reply

I imagine Cameron will now want to put as much distance between himself and the Terminator franchise than ever before ..like less than T3 or T4 levels (and with those he just said 'i'll see if they fcuked up' or something then after was like 'it was ok I guess' - his polite way of saying they sucked).. he came back in as much as he could beyond directing it and it just didn't work.

I could see him coming back to Aliens one day in a similar capacity to how he came back to Terminator (exec produce, co writer) ..like if the Blomkamp sequel comes back., but then again maybe Terminator DF has scared him off doing anything similar in case same happened again (and Fox would be wary of doing a 'Dark Fate' on Aliens now anyway as it'd be almost the exact same scenario )

reply

Last movie was pretty bad ... don't know where all that original enthusiasm came from other than I had a bit of brand faith in Cameron which is not gone the way of Ridley Scott's garbage dementia.

reply

I hesitate to even say anything, but I would watch a James Cameron take on anything Alien a lot quicker than I would anything more that Ridley Scott does to flush it down the crapper.

reply

Cameron is soon to launch his magnum opus with his age of Avatar sequels. He's going to distance himself from anything that's gonna damage the brand of his good name. He won't be championing anymore weak late entry sequels to anything he was attached to.

reply

Yeah that didn't work out so well, LOL

reply

Yeah, I'd say he practically crashed his whole reputation on this. Funny how people were waiting years for the rights to revert back to the great James Cameron. Now for "Aliens."

reply

It turned out good!

reply

I'm sure it's somebody's favorite Terminator movie. There's always a minority of fans out there for pretty much anything.

reply

Really ... you think it turned out good? Not me. I thought it was awful, far below watchable.
