Isn't going from movies to TV degrading?

Seems like a major step down from the silver to the small screen when the opposite is the bragging rights.
(Woody Harrelson, George Clooney and other movie stars who started on TV.)

Was she no longer getting parts for film and that desperate for a paycheck?

reply

Does it even matter anymore when you get someone like Bob Deniro in straight to DVD bad movies?

reply

Not when DB had gradually ceased to be a fixture on The Silver Screen by the late 2000s. Her re-emergence as The White Wendy Williams has been a remarkable career Renaissance

reply

It's her life and she can do what she wants and her fans will love her no matter what she does.

Just sayin for those of us who are not fans this seems like a lot of steps back from what was a promising movie star career.

It's like an all pro baseball player deciding he would rather go and coach Little League on his own.
Sure, he might get his team to the LL WS but no one is going to care.

reply

YOUR ANALOGY IS A GOOD ONE BUT WRONG...

IT'S LIKE AN ALL PRO BASEBALL PLAYER WHO HAD A GREAT CAREER MOVING ONTO THE NEXT STAGE/STEP IN THEIR LIFE/CAREER...OFTEN BROADCASTING FOR A PLAYER.

reply

I can't imagine how people who are not fans would care that much. I'm sure they would all assume that hosting a TV show isn't exactly poorly paid.

Your analogy is totally irrelevant.

reply

No. Many actors / actresses switch to TV because the schedules and location shoots are more stable and it is better suited to them and their families. As opposed to movies where the schedule and locations are constantly changing. It makes sense to me and I see no reason to look down on them for it 😊

reply

There is just no way I can take that seriously from one who calls himself, "StinkyPoopyPants."

reply

Honestly, and this is not meant to be rude in any way at all, it doesn't bother me at all whether or not people take me seriously here, especially if it's just because of a screen name. There are many weird and silly screen names here and that does not affect how I view their posts at all.

This is a family account my husband and I set up years ago for ourselves and our kids who wanted to come here. Our youngest was 8 at the time and not allowed to chat online. So, to compensate for that, we let him pick the screen name... obviously he had revenge in mind, lol.

Now it's just me, my husband and oldest son that post here and I have thought about creating my own account but honestly, it's just not that important to me 😊

Take it easy WarrenPeace 😊

reply

No. TV is way more prestigious than it used to be.

reply

Not really.

"Reality" TV has made it even more of a cesspool than it already was.

reply

I'm talking about prestige type TV. High-end productions

reply

Such as?

It's like finding a diamond among a pile of turds.

reply

Shogun, Warrior, Masters of the Air, Chernobyl, Succession, Dark, Better Call Saul, Mr. Robot, Black Sails, House of the Dragons, The Boys, The Last of Us, Ted Lasso, Reacher, The Bear, Mare of Easttown, Silo, Severance, When They See Us, Black Bird, The Expanse, Dopesick, Slow Horses, 1883, The Queen's Gambit, Stranger Things, Euphoria

reply

I'm more of a classic/retro TV fan.

I just cannot get into anything new.

reply

Okay. But all of those shows I referred to you there are pretty high-budget and were well acclaimed.

reply

Then maybe Drew should have gone into something like that.

I dunno but to me doing a daily talk show is scraping the bottom of the bottom of the barrel.

reply

Oh sure. Fair enough.

reply

YOU ARE FORGETTING THE OPRAH FACTOR...A LOT OF PEOPLE DO NOT FIND DAYTIME TALK TO BE THE BOTTOM OF THE BARREL...YOU DO....THAT'S FINE...BUT EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE....TO MANY OPRAH IS AN ICON....FOLLOWING IN HER FOOTSTEPS MIGHT BE EXACTLY WHAT DREW WANTS TO BE DOING.

reply

BUT OPRAH WAS NOT A MOVIE STAR TO BEGIN WITH OR A HOUSEHOLD NAME LIKE DREW.

reply

SO?

reply

SEW WHAT?

reply

"I dunno but to me doing a daily talk show is scraping the bottom of the bottom of the barrel."

Your obsession with criticizing a very successful person is disturbing.

Whatever barrel you're in is smaller and lower than the barrel Drew in low. Your position in that barrel is lower that hers.

You need to seek help for this obsession.

reply

Roll out the barrels!

Good idea.
Think I'll go and have a beer even though it is 9AM here.

reply

""Reality" TV has made it even more of a cesspool than it already was."

Totally agree with this!

reply

I lost respect for her as an actress. This talk show gig is trash.

reply

Finally someone else gets it.

reply

When she kneeled on the floor with Dylan Mulvaney I puked. She's so fake

reply

From what little I have watched of it seems like every time I checked it out she was getting too emotional with the guest which is just too much.
Sure, a talk host can have a connection with them but drooling all over each and every one is a turnoff for me.

reply

I agree. Remember the "Orpah zombies" from years ago? However, I wish her the best with her talk show.

reply

For actors just performing is what they want to do. I am not "film" on a huge screen in a cinema is not what it used to be. There were DVD/VHS sales, but since peer 2 peer software sharing files like torrent, it just simpler for people to search, not pay or go to a cinema. I still go to the cinema with my girlfriend and the few people in there just highlight what is happening. Internet providers do limit access to sharing sites which when unblocked, unloads the whole resources. I know in Hollywood this is not what they want. It is a shame the technology of downloading by multiple clients is one of the best uses the internet has offered.
