Actors That Are Not Memorable

Having just watched The Fall Guy, it hit home how totally bland and forgettable Emily Blunt is for me personally - I enjoy some of the movies she's in but if I saw her on the street, I wouldn't remember who she is. She's like a piece of toast with no jam.

Are there any actors that just don't stand out for you?

reply

Too many to name these days.

Zendaya, Timothy Chalamet and Tom Holland top the list.

I agree about Blunt.

reply

Yes, almost everyone in Hollywood is bland and interchangeable today compared to the actors of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

reply

I believe this, too. So many current actors seem to look alike, whether it's the blonde with a big chest or the guy who needs a shave - they seem to be interchangeable these days. Nothing very distinct about them.

reply

Even actor and actresses of the past who played very similar roles were very distinct in their personalities. Look at Clint Eastwood, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Lee Marvin, etc for an example. All were typecast as rugged tough, individualists, but each one had a very different personality from the rest. Same with actresses like Raquel Welch, Ann-Margret, and Angie Dickinson. All played sexy '70s bombshells, but definitely not in a cookie-cutter mold.

reply

Ha, exactly!

reply

Bill Pullman.

Someone mentioned Matthew Modine. I fully agree.

The guy that is George C. Scott's son. I don't even remember his name.

reply

For some reason, I get Jeff Daniels and Bill Pullman mixed up at times.

reply

Lol, I can see how they look sort of similar, but they're two different kind of actors to me. Daniels' looks are bland, but his acting not as much.

reply

In the 80-90-th Hollywood used to pick up interesting memorable faces to make them movie stars. You could always tell them apart. Now I don't know what happened. Did interesting faces who come to audition - vanished? Or they don't get picked up?

It feels like Hollywood chooses "safe pretty face". And they are so mandane that no one can remember them. That's why Movie Stars are no more. Julia Roberts with her unusual face would not be hired for lead roles now. They would just go for some standard pretty face.

Specially on tv. They all look the same now. All men and women. You can't remember anyone's face. It's crazy. Situation like in Game of Thrones when they all looked different is rare now.

reply

I mean she is part of the Old Guard of actors also better British/European actors have risen since her heyday
Anya Taylor-Joy,Daisy Ridley and Rebecca Ferguson as for forgettable actors.

-Tom Holland
