what could replace "How are you?"


We ask this banal, generic filler question of each other at many passings and greetings.

What COULD be a much better, more real, equally short, but more fullfilling question or back and forth?

I think Seinfeld went with "You are so good looking" or something.

Doesn't matter very much as long as no-one takes it as an invitation to give an actual answer. That's bad form. You could just say 'I acknowledge your presence'. To which the response is 'Likewise.'
