How rusted is the body?

reply

Maybe a couple of surface rust spots inside the bed from hauling things but that’s it. The roof of the cab is starting to fade so I’ll probably paint that area soon. I have a couple of other trucks from around that year that are in similar shape also.

I live out of a Roadtrek Mercedes Sprinter Van 2006 (70,000 miles) but when I am home I usually drive a Subaru Outback (165,000 miles) Have a couple of old work trucks I use on big farm jobs too, Ford F-250 (200,000 miles) , F-450 (225,000 miles) . I drive Uber sometime with a 2006 Honda Pilot (forgot the milage but around 100,000-150,000). it is a three row so I can do Uber XL

reply

My daily driver is a 2019 Lexus UXh, (gas hybrid), which currently has 52k miles that I bought in 2020 with 9k miles on it.

I have a 2008 Miata Touring that I bought new in 2009 with 19k miles on it now - it's only driven when the weather is nice and garaged during the nasty months.

5 year old Chevy Equinox.
About 70K on her.

I think she’s a slug on hills and I live in the hills, very little ‘cockpit’ room for the pilot, the stupid heat and A/C controls are ridiculously complicated, I drive a lot and the driver’s seat is trash and she loses her feet in the rain and snow. I’m sick of looking at and driving the damned thing. Stupid thing is in very good shape though, I despise it but I maintain it well.

I’m going back to a Ford pretty soon even though they build half assed vehicles nowadays as well.

I want good big cars and trucks like the 60s-80s with modern safety technology…why can’t we manage that?

reply

Those things are gross, and I hate working on them.

I’ve got a lot of curving big hills here where you really have to punch it but you have to careful, it’s quite a lot of blind woods up here.

The ‘Eco-Boost’ system
In these modern cars really castrated them.
No power.
